More details are emerging about the condition that reportedly put Brandi Glanville in the hospital after she collapsed at home over the weekend.
The 50-year-old former Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star was reportedly hospitalized with a sever case of angioedema, a source told ET on Tuesday.
The condition is superficially similar to hives, but instead of the outer layer of the skin swelling, deep layers of skin swell up after becoming engorged with fluid, according to the Mayo Clinic.
According to the source, Brandi’s face had begun to swell up alarmingly shortly before she collapsed, and it got so bad that her eyes were completely swelled up.
They added that the condition — which can also be caused by an allergic reaction — was likely brought on by stress, something Brandi has also said.

‘Brandi’s been under so much stress since The Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip drama started with Caroline Manzo. She hasn’t been able to work since the false claims were brought against her and now it’s taking a toll on her physically,’ the source claimed.
‘She is back home and resting after spending the night in the hospital,’ they added.
According to the source, Brandi’s eyes were so swollen that she couldn’t even see her hands in front of her face, and she collapsed after the condition progressed that far.
It appears to be a condition Brandi has known about and has dealt with before, and stress appears to be a primary trigger for the extreme swelling, which led her son to make a dramatic call for help to 911.
On X (formerly Twitter), Brandi explained: ‘I collapsed at home this am, and my SON had to call 911 for help! You guys have no idea the amount of stress I’m dealing with.’
It’s not clear which of her two sons had to call for medical assistance, but she shares Mason, 20, and Jake, 16, with her ex-husband, the actor Eddie Cibrian.
Shortly after their divorce, Cibrian married his current wife, the singer LeAnn Rimes.
Although Brandi is now back at home, she had to stay at the hospital through Monday.
‘Everyone at my hospital is super sweet, super hard-working, and they’re getting ready to go on strike! They REALLY deserve more!!!’ she gushed about the medical personnel and staff in a tweet.
However, she added: ‘I do REALLY want to leave though.’
Later, Brandi suggested that the ongoing drama with her costar Caroline Manzo on Ultimate Girls Trip was the cause of her over-the-top stress.

Glanville claimed that stress over her fears of a ‘bad edit’ on The Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip led to the condition
She indicated on Twitter that she feared the show would edit their interactions to put her in a particularly negative light.
‘being held hostage by the threat of a bad edit is partly the problem,’ she wrote in another tweet that also mentioned her medical team.
She noted that she was being taken care of by a ‘Dr. Cohen,’ whose surname matched Real Housewives franchise executive producer Andy Cohen.
It was reported that Brandi allegedly inappropriately touched The Real Housewives Of New Jersey star during their trip to Marrakech, Morocco, for the program.
Addressing the allegations, she said: ‘I like resolution. I would just like to talk to her and figure this out.
‘But I don’t think that’s happening, and that’s unfortunate. I’m kind of stuck waiting until the show comes out.’
The former model claims she has lost work due to the ‘gossip.’
‘When there’s gossip about you out there it’s devastating. No one wants to work with you. All of my jobs cancelled. It’s been really difficult,’ she continued.
Brandi also stated she and Caroline were ‘very intoxicated’ at the time.

‘I can speak on anything I want to speak on — it was at the end of an 18-hour work day at our belly dancing party and I’d like to see footage on it beforehand as both myself and Caroline were very intoxicated,’ she claimed on X.
Over the years, Glanville has earned the reputation as a villain on the Housewives franchise for her past vulgar insults and being a pot-stirrer.
In the past, she famously accused Kyle Richards’ older sister, Kim, of using crystal meth in the bathroom and Denise Richards of having an affair with her while married to husband Aaron Phypers.
Both Kim and Richards vehemently denied the claims Glanville made about them.
