Boy George speaks out after facing criticism for similarities to Kylie Minogue’s album cover on his new single

Boy George has broken his silence after fans claimed he ‘copied’ Kylie Minogue’s Tension album cover for his new single Religion.

The Karma Chameleon singer, 62, is seen posing in a green hue for his new single, with an orange and white backdrop.

His name is scrawled in black capitals at the top with the name of the single – Religion – etched out within a straight line at the bottom.

However the artwork bares a striking resemblance to his long-time friend Kylie’s album cover, with fans claiming it was a ‘duplicate’ as they slammed him for the ‘stolen work’.

Boy George responded to the backlash by writing on X, formerly Twitter: ‘I’m recycling everything. It’s all the rage. Even fashion is catching on?’

MailOnline have contacted Boy George’s representatives for further comment.

Fans of the Padam Padam hitmaker were not impressed with Boy George’s explanation, as one wrote: ‘Recycling? Baby this is cloning.’

‘Similarities? Baby that’s copy pasta…,’ said another, while a third added: ‘That’s a blatant copy.’

Another person said: ‘The only difference here is the faces of the artist. It’s a complete stolen work.’

‘I know that every masterpiece has its cheap copy but what the hell is this…’ said another.

Lots of Kylie’s fans were furious with how similar the covers were, and even suggested the pop sensation should sue Boy George.

‘Hope Kylie sues Boy George for everything hes got,’ said another.’

But another suggested the whole thing could be a publicity stunt that would lead to the announcement of a collaboration.

‘Did Boy George lose a bet with Kylie?’ they said. ‘Is this some elaborate publicity stunt for a duet album? The plot thickens…’

It comes after Kylie, 55, was shocked to find out that Boy George accidentally leaked her song, Padam Padam, before it was released to the public.

George made the confession on an episode of The Project in September, and Kylie was asked about it on the same show days later.

Questioned on what she felt about the leak, Kylie did a double take before gasping, ‘He did!?’

‘I didn’t know!’ she exclaimed, with host Sarah Harris backpedalling, ‘I’m sorry. I think I’ve caused an international scandal.’

Kylie graciously went on: ‘I would like to think it was just pressing the wrong button, or that he was very excited, but naughty George.’

The pop star didn’t seem too bothered by the revelation, just again calling her pal, ‘Naughty George.’
