Bluey’s MAGA moment! Vice President JD Vance’s daughter wears band-aids sporting the iconic Aussie character during Trump inauguration

Australian icon Bluey almost stole the show during Tuesday’s inauguration of the 47th President of the United States Donald Trump this week.

Newly-elected Vice President Vance brought his young family along to watch the proceedings at the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, DC on Monday, including his toddler Mirabel.

And the cute three-year-old appears to be a fan of the famed animated series, with the tot photographed sporting Bluey bandages.

Mirabel, who is the youngest of VP Vance’s three children, was seen wearing the Bluey branded product on three fingers of her left hand.

VP Vance, 40, shares Mirabel with his wife of ten years Usha, 39.

As her dad was sworn in as Vice-President,  Mirabel, held in her mother’s arms, could be seen sucking her left thumb and brandishing the Bluey merch.

The quirky appearance of Bluey at the inauguration went viral, with many users on X appearing to fully endorse the sweet moment.

‘JD Vance’s toddler daughter is so cute. My kids and I were chuckling at all the bandaids on her fingers. She may be the daughter of the Vice President, but she is very much a typical toddler,’ said one fan on the platform.

Another user gushed: ‘I think the whole country can come together and agree that JD Vance’s daughter sucking her thumb with those kid bandages on her other fingers is totally adorable.’

One fan of the moment saw the funny side of parenting at such a solemn affair.

‘Well, my three-year-old granddaugher likes to put them on me!

‘Face, hands, leg, wherever a perceived ‘owee’ might be! JD’s lucky he wasn’t wearing one on his cheek!! That was awesome.’

Still, some viewers went a little sour with their comments.

‘The bandaids on JD Vance’s daughter’s fingers are taking me out,’ said one fan on the platform.

The user continued: ‘You know there are NO cuts under there and they just needed to put them on because she insisted and they needed her to behave.’

Their couple’s two eldest children, sons Ewan, seven and Vivek, were also in attendance. The Washington power couple welcomed Mirabel in December 2021.

Bluey bandages are advertised as a first aid product and are manufactured in the US.

They are available to buy online in a box of 100 for US$79.99.

The quirky detail at the inauguration ceremony was commemorated on the product’s official social media.

Sharing images of Mirabel and her Bluey bandaids, the charming post also featured a caption which said:

‘Our #Bluey Bandages made their way to Washington DC to help sooth 2 year old Mirabel Vance thru all the adulting going on during the Inauguration yesterday – and her bandages were the talk of the town. Such a precious moment.’

It comes after Bluey has become one of the biggest success stories in the States over the last two years.

A recent ratings survey revealed that the children’s animated series has been riding high in the top ten shows streamed in the US for a massive 112 weeks.

The figures were compiled by the Nielsen ratings, which tracks viewership in the US, reported the Comicbook website last month.

According to Nielsen’s survey, Bluey has been in the top ten shows streaming in the US since October 2022.

Bluey is broadcast in more than 60 countries with all three seasons of the Emmy-award winning cartoon available on ABC iview.

The award-winning animated series first hit screens in 2018 and has since become a favourite for kids and parents.

Last month, BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company announced they are bringing Bluey’s first-ever animated feature film to the big screen, which will be written and directed by the show’s creator Joe Brumm.
