Bluey fans have recently taken to social media with speculation about the future of the globally-beloved ABC animated series.
Season three’s last episode, set to air on Sunday, will run for a whopping 28mins – four times longer than regular episodes – and is set to ‘change the popular Heeler family forever’.
The mega episode release sent thousands of fans into a panic, with many thinking that it meant the cartoon would be ending forever.
And now a producer of the wildly-popular Australian cartoon has revealed the fate of the show.
Executive producer Daley Pearson spoke to Sunrise on Friday morning and revealed: ‘For the last bit of time it’s just been this half-hour episode we’ve been working on, but we will be making more Bluey.’

‘It’s been a concentration on this half-hour ep. We’ll see where it goes. I think when we have taken risks, that’s when it’s been the most exciting and I think that’s when the audience has liked it the most as well,’ he continued.
‘So whatever it will be, it will be something that we’re not quite sure if we can do. But we hope we can.’
The producer further revealed that it would be a ‘dream’ to make a full-length film of the cartoon.
He added that Sunday’s 28-minute special titled ‘The Sign’ will be a test to see how audiences respond to a longer episode.

Fears were first stoked when a storyline revealed the family’s 15 to 20 room Brisbane home was on the market for $6m Australian dollars.
However Pearson divulged that the moving house plot was simply designed to show another facet of childhood.
‘[Moving house is] always out of our hands. Kids will love that. Molly especially. It’s the parents’ decision. So the world changes without much of your involvement, which is a lot about what this half-hour ep is about.’

The news will come as a relief to the iconic cartoon’s many worried fans.
‘There’s no way they’ll end Bluey right?? Right??’ one worried social media user wrote on X.
‘Bruh, they can’t cancel BLUEY. My kid is about to have a BLUEY 2nd bday party next week. It’s what we do in this house … she will be devastated and I can’t lie, we all watch it. #BlueyRules,’ another commented.
Bluey’s special will air Sunday April 14, 2024 on ABC Kids.
