Blake Lively claimed her husband Ryan Reynolds secretly contributed to the dialogue in her new film, It Ends With Us.
The Gossip Girl alum, 36, proudly shared that the Deadpool actor, 47, helped write the ‘iconic rooftop scene’ – a fact that even the movie’s screenwriter wasn’t aware of.
‘My husband actually wrote it. Nobody knows that but you now,’ Blake, who is the star and producer of the film, told E! News at the New York City premiere on Tuesday.
The actress — who recently made a cameo as Ladypool in Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine movie — added, ‘We help each other. He works on everything I do; I work on everything he does. So his wins, his celebrations are mine and mine are his.’
Meanwhile, the film’s screenwriter, Christy Hall, appeared baffled by the claim, and shared she wasn’t aware Reynolds contributed to the dialogue.

‘There were a couple of little things that I thought had been improvised,’ she told People of the scene, which takes place early in the film with Lily Bloom (Blake) and Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) sharing a flirtatious rooftop encounter.
‘Like when he says, “Pretty please with a cherry on top,” and she talks about the maraschino cherries,’ Christy shared.
‘When I saw a cut I was like, “Oh, that’s cute. That must have been a cute improvised thing.” So if I’m being told that Ryan wrote that, then great, how wonderful.’
‘There were a few little flourishes that I did not write, but I assumed that they had been improvised on set. But, again, like I said, the moments that I felt like needed to be honored are there. So I recognize the scene and I’m proud of the scene. And if those flourishes came from Ryan, I think that’s wonderful,’ she added.
It Ends With Us is based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel published in 2016.
Christy shared that the rooftop scene was ‘probably the trickiest one to tackle’ because it is ‘perfect in the novel.’
‘My first attempt at that scene, I really tried to just honor what Colleen wrote, almost word for word,’ she explained.
‘I really, really tried because I just think that she did it best. What’s tricky about that scene is it’s long.’

Hall also revealed another moment that was improvised, in a scene with Lively and co-star Brandon Sklenar, who plays Atlas.
‘When Atlas is like, “What song do you want played at your funeral?” [and it’s Creed’s With Arms Wide Open]. I laughed my a** off when I first saw that, because I assumed that was improvised — maybe Ryan Reynolds wrote those lines!’ she joked.
‘I’d be curious to know where that line came from because I loved that moment. We needed some levity, we needed a laugh, and we got it in that moment,’ she added.

The highly-anticipated movie, based off Colleen Hoover’s novel of the same name, is set to hit theaters on Friday, August 9.
But some fans believe Blake has beef with Justin, 40 — who on top of acting in the film, also directed it — after claiming they spotted some tension between the stars at the New York City premiere earlier this week.
Blake and Justin didn’t pose for any pictures together at the event, despite playing the two main characters and love interests in the flick.

Two days later, Blake attended a photo call in London for the film with some of the other stars – but Justin was mysteriously absent.
In addition, the two haven’t done any press together in the weeks leading up to the film’s release.
Instead, Blake sat down for an interview with her costar, Brandon, last month; she and Brandon also participated in a promotional video with It Ends With Us stars Alex Neustaedter and Isabela Ferrer, but Justin had no part in it.
Eagle-eyed social media users also noticed that both Blake and author Colleen unfollowed Justin on Instagram recently.
Between their lack of interactions and the social media move, many people on the web are wondering if there was drama between Blake and Justin on set.

The movie follows Lily, a floral designer who falls in love with neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (portrayed by Justin), years after losing touch with her first love, Atlas (played by Brandon), after he joined the military.
But things get dramatic after Lily reconnects with Atlas after running into him at a restaurant, just as her romance with Ryle starts to turn toxic.
Hoover’s has been a hit with readers after it was published in 2016. As of 2019, the book sold over one million copies worldwide and was translated into over 20 different languages.
However, the movie is far from a critical darling, as it currently holds a 61% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with a review from the The Independent calling it ‘sincere but completely ludicrous.’
