Now in his first ever longform interview since Amy's death, Blake, 43, revealed an insight into his surprising friendship with the Friends star, 59, after they met in 2007 after the late star's show gig in a pub in North London.
Speaking on Paul C Brunson's We Need To Talk podcast, he said: 'Do you want to know who I was good friends with, it was unexpected but I'm sure he won't mind if he sees this, but David Schwimmer.
'He is such a nice guy and a genuine Amy fan. He came to see Amy in a small pub, this was before she was doing big stages so he was right on it from the start.
'He was in Camden with his girlfriend at the time and he was so clearly a fan of the music and so happy and the whole time I was like, this is Ross from Friends.
'It was so chill and so cool, we use to text each other all the time and we had nicknames for each other, we were mates. Yeah, we were mates.'

The Daily Mail reported on Winehouse's April 2007 performance at the Dublin Castle pub in Camden, London, writing 'A ripple goes through the crowd as former Friends star David Schwimmer, "disguised" beneath a baseball cap, pushes his way to the front of the queue through the swirling masses and is allowed entrance.'
Years after the encounter, David's then partner Zoë Buckman, who he was married to from 2010 to 2017, shared a selfie of the couple with Winehouse and Blake.
Buckman wrote: 'Cherish. Am cleaning out my phone (feels so good) and finding some goodies. Heart beats out my chest. #Amy.'
Elsewhere in the podcast, Blake said he's not responsible for Winehouse's untimely death despite conceding he had a 'part to play' in her desperate battle with drug addiction - and claimed they even talked about reconciling just days before she died.
Winehouse had been in and out of treatment for drug and alcohol dependency and struggled with withdrawal and anxiety before she was found dead at her Camden home in 2011, aged just 27.
Two inquests determined the singer's blood-alcohol content was five times over the legal drink-drive limit, with her cause of death subsequently recorded as accidental by way of alcohol poisoning.
Addressing the tragedy Blake refuted the firmly held belief that Winehouse's battle with substance and alcohol abuse began when they embarked on a relationship.
'My stance now is that I know a lot of people, especially people reading media twenty years ago would have an idea that Amy's passing is my responsibility,' he said.
'As I've always said - I never shirk from any responsibility. If I've done something, I'll put my hand up to it, but I'm okay. I'm not okay but I've made my peace with... yeah, I had a part to play.'

While his own downward spiral into addiction started at the same time as Winehouse, Blake maintains he never encouraged the singer to take it.
