Bizarre Sydney Business Partnership Raises Eyebrows

Society fixtures Dina Broadhurst and Bernadette Sukkar (née Fahey) have taken their high-profile friendship to dazzling new heights - teaming up for an art installation that's the talk of the eastern suburbs. 

The Body by Berner founder teased the project last week, sharing videos of herself posing in skin-tight activewear alongside Dina, 50, as the pair twisted and contorted in the studio. 

Bernadette, 36, revealed the collaboration has been six months in the making, working with design studio Composite Sydney to create sculptures of their bodies using robotics and recycled plastic. 

'Not ready to share everything just yet… but something epic is coming…' she wrote.

The Pilates queen - who soared into high society after marrying Buildcorp CEO Jordan Sukkar in late 2024 - has stepped out of the studio and into the gallery, quite literally putting herself on display. Her creative partner, Dina, is Sydney's reigning 'nude artist' whose works .

The pairing has certainly raised eyebrows among insiders, with some questioning why Bernadette would pivot her wholesome wellness brand to (not-quite-nude) art after finally establishing herself in the social hierarchy.

For Dina, a bizarre stunt like this is nothing new, with the 50-year-old making her money from stripping off and flaunting her breasts in nude artworks.

But it's a much more surprising shift from her Pilates mogul friend, and, with a second Body by Berner studio set to open soon, it seems she's on the hunt for a bold new image.

As for the sculptures, it's still unclear whether they'll debut in public or private spaces. 

She opened her first studio in North Bondi in May 2023 and it quickly became one of the most coveted workout spots of those in the eastern suburbs 'it crowd'.

Now she has a second gym in the works - location yet to be announced - which she assures will look nothing like her Bondi HQ. 

The socialite shared a glimpse of the new space online on Tuesday, revealing she had purchased $18,000 worth of enormous mirrors.

Bernadette also posted a collage of curtain and paint samples, hinting at a moodier, more dramatic aesthetic than her minimalist first studio, which features curated art.  

Nestled among the images was a progress shot of one of the nude sculptures she's been crafting with Dina, suggesting the plastic statues will soon grace her new space.

Their business partnership may raise eyebrows among society insiders, but their friendship is anything but a secret.

Bernadette and Dina are long-time best mates; Dina was front row at Bernadette's lavish Scots College wedding to Jordan Sukkar in November 2024.

She also hosted the bride and her bridesmaids at her newly renovated Double Bay home on the morning of the big day. 

Dina arrived in a daring plum 'revenge dress' - fresh from a reported split with her on-again, off-again beau, John Winning Jr., just hours before the nuptials.
