has shared how she struggled with her self-worth during her battle with endometriosis.

The 27-year-old revealed in a candid Instagram post this week that she felt 'trapped' by her body and went without a diagnosis for years.

'In the last three years, I've had over 50 endometriosis lesions cut out of my body. A chocolate cyst that was adhering my ovary to my side was removed,' she wrote.

'An appendectomy and a hernia repair. I've felt indescribable, inescapable pain. Trying to keep my invisible illness to myself after being told by doctors it was just 'part of being a woman.'

'I spent 10 years being undiagnosed. As a teenager and young woman, I felt weak and deeply insecure. I was trapped in my own body.'

The Wildlife Warrior said she hopes to raise awareness for what she called an 'invisible disease'.

'It's up to all of us to raise awareness, not just for endometriosis but for women's health as a whole. No one deserves to suffer in silence,' she continued.

'If you're in pain, my heart breaks for you. I believe you. Please find answers. And don't give up on yourself. I know how hard that can be,' Bindi concluded.

The comments section was inundated with supportive comments, including from Bindi's mother, Terri Irwin.

'I am so proud of you for sharing your journey, Bindi,' Terri wrote.

'I have learned that it is important for women to seek out a surgeon who performs excision surgery instead of ablation. Everyone deserves to live without pain!'

Bindi's husband Chandler Powell also chimed in: 'Strongest person I know. So proud to be your husband.'

Her brother Robert Irwin last year spoke out on his sister's health, just weeks after she revealed she was recovering from a 13-year battle with endometriosis.

The 22-year-old celebrity conservationist revealed that Bindi was making a steady recovery, as he worked at raising awareness of the issue.

Endometriosis is a painful condition where the tissue lining the uterus also grows outside of it.

'It is something that needs to be in the forefront of discussions,' Robert added.

'Women's health throughout history - and even now - is just underdiscussed, under-researched.

'We really need advocates to stand up and to get the word out there, men and women.'
