Elizabeth Hurley has been in the most effervescent form over the festive season, hosting new boyfriend Billy Ray Cyrus at her home in Herefordshire, England, and bringing him along to a James Bond themed New Year’s bash, which she attended in a bikini.
However, if she wants to preserve her good mood, she had better stay away from the Instagram feed of Cyrus’ previous wife Firerose.
For Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rosie Hodges, has been making repeated posts about her relationship with Cyrus, which ended in May 2024 after two years of dating and just seven months of marriage.
It was a bitter and public break up, during which each accused the other of verbal and emotional abuse. Court documents show that Firerose walked away with zero dollars from her ex.
In recent Instagram posts, she claimed she suffered ‘narcissistic abuse’ at his hands including ‘control, isolation, rage and manipulation.’
Most shocking of all is an audio clip she uploaded, which is allegedly of the singer raging at her and repeatedly calling her a ‘f***ing b****’ during an argument. In the clip, a male voice can be heard saying, ‘I don’t know who the f*** you think you are… f*** you, f*** you. You know better than that you idiot.’
Elsewhere on the one minute and 28 second clip, the person said, ‘I needed to leave two hours ago’, and, ‘If you had just shut the f*** up and left it the f*** alone… I don’t know who the f*** you think you are. You will not f***ing listen. This ain’t about your BRCA, this ain’t about your surgeries, this ain’t about nothing, this is about you being a f***ing b****.
‘I don’t think you are real smart. I’ve changed my mind about that. What you are is a selfish f***ing b****.’

In an interview after their marriage ended, Firerose said that she had been diagnosed with the BRCA1 gene mutation – which carries an increased risk of breast cancer – and went through a double mastectomy as a result. She said the surgery happened shortly after they split.
In a TikTok post, which utilized a video storytelling trend popular at the moment, she wrote: ‘In your 20s you will meet a 49-year-old man who convinces you that he’s your soulmate. It is very important that you don’t believe him.’Â
She captioned the video with a message to her followers.
‘If you have survived narcissistic abuse, you’re not alone,’ she wrote. ‘It’s chilling how similar survivor’s experiences really are. Behind closed doors it’s always the same playbook.
‘Control, isolation, rage, manipulation, walking on eggshells, cognitive dissonance, feeling like the only person in the world that can be experiencing what you are. But I promise, God sees everything and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.’
In another long post, alongside a video of her weeping apparently shot during the marriage, she wrote: ‘Being used as narcissistic supply, publicly displayed to uphold their mask while being abused behind closed doors is one of the most isolating & devastating experiences imaginable.
‘When all your focus is on surviving, keeping your abuser’s secrets becomes paramount so you remain completely silent, terrified of what will happen if you expose them.
‘After intense trauma therapy & with my profound faith in God I’ve realized that for every survivor who stays silent & continues to keep their abuser’s secrets, there’s another survivor still trapped in the living hell of domestic abuse. My deepest prayer is that by sharing a fraction of the most excruciating years of my life it will give that one girl the strength to get through another day.’

Firerose and Cyrus first became friends on the set of the Disney show Hannah Montana – which starred Cyrus’ daughter Miley – more than ten years ago, when he was married to his first wife Tish. They then reconnected during the Covid pandemic.
Cyrus filed for divorce in May 2024 citing irreconcilable differences and ‘inappropriate marital conduct’. He later filed a restraining order to prevent ‘unauthorized’ use of his credit cards and accounts. The divorce was finalized in August with his lawyers saying he was ‘relieved to put this nightmare behind him’.
In a statement released via his lawyers he said: ‘This has been absolutely the most crazy insane scam I have ever heard of. Let alone the fact I’m right in the center and basically the target of the scheme.
‘It’s unfortunate it played out this way. Not only was it a web of lies that put me in physical danger, it was a matter of the heart. Love is blind, that’s for sure.’
In an interview after the marriage ended, Firerose said she was becoming lonely and detached from her support network.
Opening up about the day that Cyrus left, she revealed: ‘We went to bed together, and when I woke up, he wasn’t there.

‘It wasn’t abnormal for him to shut me out and give me the silent treatment, but it was very unusual for him to leave for a whole day. He didn’t come home that night.’
She says she was due to undergo breast surgery after discovering she has the BRCA1 gene mutation, which increases the likelihood that a person could develop cancer.
‘I was alone on the farm by myself, with no security lights on. I was terrified and baffled, as he wasn’t answering my calls or texts and he knew I had to be at the hospital the next day,’ she said.
It’s worth noting that during divorce proceedings, Cyrus appeared to cast doubt on that claim by subpoenaing her medical records.
The Australian singer also recalled their wedding day and claimed she only had one friend in her bridal party, who was also her hair stylist.
She continued: ‘All of a sudden, instead of being my normal lively, outgoing self, I became very introverted unless we were working or together in public, where I’d often try to be overly positive as I was scared to let anyone see how devastatingly withdrawn I’d become.’
Many of Hurley’s friends are still gobsmacked by her romance with Cyrus. The pair met on the set of a film in 2021 but reconnected while he was going through the divorce in 2024.
In an interview last year, she said that she had been dating the long-haired Achy Breaky Heart singer for nearly a year and said: ‘Billy Ray is fabulous. We’re very happy, very happy.’

They apparently spent the summer together at her house in Herefordshire and Liz said: ‘He loves England. The weather is nicer here in the summer than it is in Tennessee. He lives 40 minutes outside of Nashville. It’s so beautiful. Funnily enough, it actually looks a lot like England. Probably the equivalent of Surrey.’
She added that her son Damian was a fan. ‘Damian and Miley have met, Billy’s kids are great and Billy has spent a lot of time with Damian. Everyone loves everyone, it’s lovely.’
Hurley hard-launched the romance with a post last Easter of the two of them in each other’s arms.
She and Cyrus, 64, were co-stars in a terrible film, Christmas in Paradise, made in 2021 – and though he managed to divorce one wife and marry and divorce Firerose before finally getting together with Liz, there is talk that there was a ‘spark’ when they were filming in the Caribbean.
Sources in America say that Cyrus’ first wife Tish, 57, to whom he was still married while filming Christmas in Paradise, ‘had her thoughts and suspicions’ that her husband was getting entangled with Liz, but said: ‘Billy Ray flat out denied it.’
The source said: ‘They got very close on the set and seeing that they are together now is a slap in the face for Tish, but it also confirms that she was likely right about her suspicions. They never stopped being in contact.’
Tish and Billy Ray officially divorced in April 2022 after nearly three decades of marriage. In court papers, Tish said that they had not lived together since 2020, so by the time he was making the film with Hurley, they were separated.
They had a bitter and public break up, during which each accused the other of verbal and emotional abuse. Court documents show that Firerose walked away with $0.
The couple had daughters Miley, 32, Noah, 25, and son Braison, 30. Billy Ray also adopted Tish’s daughter Brandi, 37, and son Trace, 36 from a previous marriage.
Tish has spoken of ‘disrespect’ on both sides in the marriage and they had previously filed for divorce – but reconciled – in both 2011 and 2013. In 2022 they announced they were divorcing with a joint statement saying: ‘After 30 years, five wonderful children and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways, not with sadness, but with love in our hearts.
‘We grew up together, we formed a family that we can be very proud of, and now it’s time to create our own paths.’
Meanwhile, Billy Ray was estranged from his children. Adopted son Trace – a recovering alcoholic – said he had been concerningly absent from all their lives.
Two days after a chaotic performance from Billy Ray at Trump’s inauguration, which had numerous technical issues, Trace posted a message on Instagram asking his dad to get help.
He wrote: ‘Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like, I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you.
‘You may be upset with me for posting this but I really could care less at this point. Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away.’
He went on: ‘You’re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it. As I write this with tears in my eyes I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon. I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help.’
A Cyrus family source said that, contrary to Trace’s post, the singer was ‘completely sober’ during the performance, adding: ‘Billy Ray is healthy and happy and doesn’t do any substances. The man doesn’t drink. He doesn’t do drugs.’
Soon afterwards, Billy Ray appealed for ‘the start of healing’ for his family.
He wrote: ‘Sunday callin. Giving thanks for the California Rain. Praying for the brokenhearted and their pain. Praying for my family. For my children… sons and daughters… and their mother. Let this moment be the start of healing for us all. The past does not equal the future.’
He has since reconciled with daughter Miley and seems to be trying to build a happy blended family with Hurley, who is famously on good terms with her ex Hugh Grant.
