Bill Hader’s ex Ali Wong is seen for first time since their split as real reason for breakup is revealed

Ali Wong has been seen for the first time since news broke of her shock split from Bill Hader earlier this week.

The 43-year-old star appeared despondent as she was spotted running errands in the Culver City neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The stand-up comedienne was alone as she wore casual clothing that consisted of a navy blue hoodie with matching shorts that showed off her toned legs.

The petite actress added black-and-white Vans socks with chunky white sneakers as she had a large black purse worn crossbody style.

With her long black hair worn down, she was makeup free and had on cat-eye tortoise-shell sunglasses for a chic touch.

This sighting comes after Daily Mail revealed the real reason Wong and the 47-year-old Hader went their separate ways after two years of dating.

Wong’s mood on Friday appeared tense. The star did not look relaxed as she clenched one of her fists and frowned with her eyebrows pushed down.

Not seen were her two daughters with her former spouse Justin Hakuta.

It has been a difficult last month for Wong who had a very public split with fellow comedian Hader.

Daily Mail has learned that the reason for the breakup: it was partially due to Hader’s ‘moody’ personality.

‘Bill is not the easiest to be around, he is tense and harsh a lot of the time, everyone knows this in Hollywood, that is why his nickname is Bill Hater, because he hates on certain things,’ an insider told the Daily Mail. 

‘That is how Bill gets so many cute girls; he can be kind at times, but then he can be prickly. You never know what you’re going to get with him.’

People magazine, however, blamed the end of their relationship on busy work schedules that ultimately made things ‘too difficult’. The break-up was ‘amicable’ and ‘they are very much friends’, People said.

Daily Mail also learned that the split was a long time coming. The former couple’s close friends were hardly surprised.

‘He was already on the outs with Ali,’ said the insider, who noted that the pair had been distant for several months now.

In fact, right at the start of their relationship in the spring of 2023, their friends had placed bets on how long the romance would last, with the common feeling being that they were mismatched.

‘No one thought it would last because she is a super sweet girl, very normal, very fun and easy going, and he is not. I guess she could take only so much,’ the insider said, who was nonetheless keen to stress that though Hader can be ‘cranky’, he is also ‘hilarious’ and ‘clever’.

Ever since Hader’s 12-year marriage to director Maggie Carey collapsed in 2018, his more recent romances have all been short-lived. The Saturday Night Live funnyman split from actress Rachel Bilson in July 2020 after dating her for less than a year.  

In a rather crude podcast interview, Bilson later revealed that the thing she still misses about her ex is ‘his big d***’. 

Hader moved on to actress Anna Kendrick, who he dated for two years until the summer of 2022.

And then, in December of that year, he was ‘very briefly’ linked to 43-year-old Wong – hot on the heels of her own divorce from businessman Justin Hakuta – before the comedian pair ended things, Page Six reported at the time. In April 2023, they rekindled the romance.

Wong later told how Hader got her phone number through a mutual friend and messaged her to admit that he’d had a crush on her ‘forever’.

The last month has been a trying time for Hader. 

On December 14 came the grim news that Hader’s friend, director Rob Reiner, had been stabbed to death in his Los Angeles mansion alongside his wife Michele.

The couple’s son Nick Reiner, 32, has been charged with both their murders.

But, in an awful twist for Hader, it has since emerged that, in the hours before Nick’s alleged killings, the Reiners’ troubled son reportedly caused a scene at a holiday party, held at the nearby LA home of Conan O’Brien on December 13, after having got into a tense chat with Hader.

A source claimed to NBC News that Nick, who has a long history of addiction, had been acting erratically at the party and ‘interrupted Hader’ who told him he was ‘in the middle of a private conversation.’

The source claimed that Nick then became incensed and ‘stormed off’. Hours later, Rob and Michele Reiner were killed.
