Nadia Almada has slammed Big Brother contestant Ryan Bradshaw after he mocked the idea of ‘woke people’ using ‘certain pronouns’.
The reality star, 47, criticised the ITV show for allowing the comments to air and told the channel she felt let down.
Nadia appeared on the reality show in 2004, when it aired on Channel 4, as the first openly trans housemate and went on to win the fifth series.
But the former contestant revealed her shock at Ryan’s comments in the series reboot, which started this week.
In his intro VT, events organiser Ryan, 28 said: ‘There’s a lot of woke people out there. It’s all well and good if you want to use certain pronouns and I get that. It gets a bit confusing sometimes when people start identifying as a spoon or whatnot.’

Posting on her Instagram Story on Wednesday, Nadia shared her disgust at his remarks.
She wrote: ‘Big Brother made an editorial decision to show Ryan making transgressive comments. The clip was prerecorded – they likely had lots of footage to choose from, but that’s what they went for. They did it to gain publicity for the show and use our outrage for clicks, views and votes.
‘BBUK had the opportunity to educate Ryan, instead you’ve let him show himself up.
‘@bbcuk, dear friend and confideant, you have failed me, the #LGBTQIA community and society at large. This is 2024 not 2004 #bbuk’
Appearing on the Queerphobia podcast with Jack Guinness on Thursday, Nadia doubled down on her comments.
The reality star said she felt used by the show adding that she felt her trans identity was weaponised for views.
The Big Brother winner added that she did not feel protected by the producers of the all-star series Ultimate Big Brother which aired in Channel 4 in 2010.

Nadia explained that she was vulnerable at the time of filming due to her mental health and said she was not in the right place to go on the show.
She said: ‘It was a very very distressing time for me actually. It was heartbreaking as well.
‘I saw the whole Jade Goody sort of situation as well before – which I’m not equating myself to that kind of narrative – my narrative was just I was not in the right place in the right time physically emotionally in mind in spirit.’
She went on to tell the host that she felt the all-star series felt highly ‘processed’ and intentionally draining.
Nadia said: ‘I think there was a lot of triggers and I think at that point that the social experiment that is Big Brother and even bringing back all these sort of ‘all winners’…series was very processed, you know what I mean?
‘It was very intentional. It broke me.’
The star candidly revealed that she felt dehumanised as a trans woman and that in turn took a huge toll on her mental health.
She went on to explain that starring alongside US rapper Coolio was dangerous for her because of his beliefs and attitudes to women.

Nadia said: ‘It was it was very dehumanising, and I think it really took me to a dark place, with that person specifically.’ as she discussed her second stint on the reality show
She said: ‘Coolio was this woman oppressor, transphobic, everything that he kind of represents you know.
‘At that time he was a trigger that was the end of me. No matter what, I couldn’t turn back.
‘Mentally, I was broken by all of his doings and all his beliefs and all his practises […] I guess in essence I was a victim of that very produced series.
‘And I think Channel 4 or even Big Brother will look back and acknowledge some of these things.

When asked by Jack whether she felt protected, Nadia replied that hadn’t felt protected at the time and even felt she had been intentionally put in harm’s way.
