Beyond the Stereotype: My True Career Revealed

Beyond the Stereotype: My True Career Revealed

Sarah Lloyd makes hundreds of thousands of dollars selling racy content online, but it isn’t always her naked figure making her fans’ jaws drop.

The Melbourne-born content creator, 25, tells Daily Mail men often think she’s ‘just a dumb blonde’ because she makes raunchy videos for a living.

But the OnlyFans model, who now lives on the Gold Coast in Queensland, is actually a published scientist with a Bachelor’s in anatomy and biochemistry.

‘I studied for four years at the University of Melbourne and I did a Bachelor of Science, majoring in anatomy and minoring in biochemistry,’ she says.

‘I was really lucky and I got a job in the lab just as an undergrad. I worked in a lab and published a paper working in that lab alongside a postdoc [postdoctoral researcher].

‘That was when I decided I didn’t want to do it anymore. I would have gone on to do a PhD, but also seeing all the PhD people there really turned me off.’

Sarah was an academic high-flyer when she grew up in Melbourne, landing a scholarship to an all-girls private school.

After graduating from university, she worked on ground-breaking research in a lab to help aid the care of babies born with no platelets—known as thrombocytopenia.

‘When human babies are born with no platelets, some end up with cerebral palsy and their life expectancy is only 20 or 25,’ she explains.

‘Currently, we just give them adult platelets because it’s the only thing we know how to do.

‘My paper was the first of a very long line that was using a mice model that had no platelets and just seeing if their brain bleeds were consistent.

‘Seeing if we can see something that consistently happens when you’re born with no platelets.’

Sarah says the postdoctoral researcher she worked with wrote the paper, but she ‘did most of the really tedious experiments’, making her a co-author of the article.

‘I probably worked on it for about two years but the writing of it may have taken about four years,’ she clarifies.

She goes on to add the research was ‘very fulfilling’ but she struggled with the lengthy process of lab work.

‘It would be 15 years worth of grants and papers and experiments to get any sort of answers,’ Sarah says.

‘I wrapped up those experiments and I started doing [OnlyFans] on the side and I was like, “This is so much better.” I pretty much did everything anyway.

‘I always loved to travel, loved to take photos, and so I was doing it all.

‘Then when I could actually make an income off it, that’s when I was like, “I will focus on what I’m really enjoying now.”‘

Sarah says she just doesn’t ‘love science enough to work 14-hour days and get paid nothing to do it’.

The blonde beauty claims to have made US$50,000 (AU$76,998) in her first month on OnlyFans, as she began with a large following from Instagram.

Nowadays, she makes roughly US$100,000 to US$150,000 (AU$153,996 to AU$230,994) a month.

‘After I officially quit that job [in the lab], I opened an [OnlyFans] account,’ she says.

‘I knew I would have a lot of traffic on it because I had a lot of people asking me to open one.’

Sarah says she has mostly been able to keep her adult subscription site separate from her former life as a scientist, but she did have one ‘creepy’ incident.

‘I have someone from the last place I worked that consistently messaged me so I had to block him,’ she says.

‘I don’t mind the idea of someone that I know [following me]. It’s just that he was being very creepy.’

As for her affluent family, Sarah says her mother was the one who first encouraged her to start selling raunchy photos and videos of herself online.

‘My mum saw a BBC documentary where they were talking about how much money they make off of OnlyFans and she was like, “Why don’t you do this?”‘ she recalls.

‘My mum and my sisters were very supportive.’

‘The issue is more like the general community just don’t understand or have a specific view of it, and they pass that view onto [my family],’ she adds.

‘That’s when I feel bad for them, when people close to them are judging them for what I do, even though it’s got nothing to do with them.’

Sarah, who often flaunts her jet-setting lifestyle on Instagram as she strips down to bikinis, appears to have no regrets about leaving her science career behind.

However, she says there is a world in which she would go back to the industry to work in the ‘business side’ of things.

‘More bringing science to the community,’ she says.

‘There are some really great experiments and really great things people are discovering.

‘But it’s really hard to get a scientist to convey that to the community and then be able to commercialise it because they just love the science.

‘Bridging that gap is something I’m interested in.’

Sarah currently boasts 95,600 followers on Instagram and stars on OFTV, where she shares her motorsport-inspired videos and fitness content.
