Benedict is set to play a young father whose hold on reality soon falls apart following his wife’s tragic death.
The upcoming film, which is an adaptation of Max Porter’s Novel, focuses on a father and his two young sons dealing with the sudden death of their wife and mother.
However, after his wife’s death a strange presence known as ‘Crow’ begins to stalk Benedict from the shadows of his apartment which he shares with his two young sons.
According to Deadline, Benedict is a huge fan of Max Porter’s previous work yet claimed he was feeling ‘sceptical’ about the idea of a film adaptation.
He said: ‘Having been a huge fan of Max Porter’s extraordinary book and Enda Walsh’s stage adaptation I was sceptical about a film adaptation.
But the experience of reading Dylan Southern’s adaptation rekindled the cinematic memory of reading this most visceral tale of a family consumed by grief.’
‘Dylan has handled the deftness of Max’s kinetic poetry masterfully. It’s so well realized both on the page and in the deck and pitch.
‘It holds all the wildly sharp turns of changing tones and colours between the domestic and mythic, between the despair, comedy, and every day of loss. It’s a thrilling read, and I couldn’t be more excited to be taking Dylan’s cinematic vision of it to the big screen,’ he added.

It comes after Benedict transformed into a beggar who is mistaken for Jesus and brutally crucified in his new film The Book Of Clarence.
The actor who has starred in BBC drama Sherlock and The Imitation Game will take on the part of Benjamin, who is nailed to a post mistakenly.
The Book Of Clarence follows the down-on-his-luck Jerusalemite who embarks on a misguided attempt to capitalize on the rise of celebrity and influence the Messiah for his own personal gain.
The journey leads him on an exploration of faith and an unexpected path.
The real Jesus is portrayed by Captain America and For Life star Nicholas Pinnock, 50, in the biblical comedy-drama.
After being gifted a never-ending source of coins by Pinnock’s Jesus, Cumberbatch’s character transforms himself and begins throwing money at people, before being mistaken as a ‘messiah’ by the Romans and crucified.
In the crucifixion moment, he looks pained as he is strapped to the cross while his long hair blows in the wind.
