Ben Stiller reveals he and his daughter Ella are big fans of the Real Housewives.
While making an appearance at SiriusXM’s Town Hall, he told host Andy Cohen about the bond he and his 22-year-old daughter shares over multiple Bravo franchise series.
Stiller, 59, and Cohen got onto the topic of the Real Housewives shows when discussing being executive producers during the Writers Guild of America strike and editing Severance and Bravo reality shows, respectively.
The Severance director — who issued a major update about the future of the Apple TV+ show — explained: ‘I was allowed to edit because I am technically a non-writing executive producer on the show, so I was editing episodes throughout the strike.’
He continued: ‘It would’ve taken longer if I couldn’t have edited during the break.’
When Cohen pointed out that it took nearly three years for a second season to premiere, Stiller jokingly hit back and asked Cohen if he edited every episode of the Real Housewives personally.

‘I give notes on every episode,’ Cohen replied. ‘It’s really well edited,’ Stiller commented.
Then, Cohen asked if Stiller watched any of the other franchise series beyond the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
The Zoolander star explained how he and his daughter started watching together and bond over the shows.
‘I only have bandwidth for so many Real Housewives shows,’ Stiller told him.
‘I’ve been told Salt Lake City is the next one I have to get into and my daughter Ella really wants me to get into New York, but then you have to go back 10 seasons and start.’
Stiller also explained that his daughter began watching the reality series in drama school.
After he got into the shows too, he said that for them, it became a ‘great release where you can just get into these other people’s lives and their worlds.’
Stiller also shared a story about how he and his daughter met Erika Girardi, a star on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, when she was filming Watch What Happens Live.

He said that he was proud that he got to talk about the Bravo reality shows during his appearance on The View that same morning amid his promo tour for Severance’s new season.
‘Yeah, because they were saying like … and this is a spoiler, but why would the Salt Lake City wives, why would they talk about the worst text?’
To the laughing co-hosts of the morning show, he said: ‘And I was like, “Of course they’re gonna talk about their worst text. That’s what the show is. You want to see that.’
Severance will return with its second season available on the streamer Apple TV+ on January 17.
