Vanessa Feltz’s ex-fiancé and Nineties pop star Ben Ofoedu has revealed his surprise plans to enter into the world of politics.
The Phats & Small singer, 52, is hoping to win the trust of voters after entering formal talks to become the Tory mayoral candidate for London.
‘I’m going for mayor of London,’ he confirmed at the Suki Wang London Summer Party at 180 The Strand, as revealed by Richard Eden’s Daily Mail column.
It comes after he was spotted campaigning with the Conservatives in June ahead of the General Election, joining Tory candidate Greg Smith in Mid Buckinghamshire on the campaign trail.
At the time, he told The Sun: ‘I have keenly followed politics for many years, including relationships with Boris Johnson and other politicians.

‘I’m now ready to start my political journey and training to eventually run for Mayor of London.’
He added: ‘London needs fixing. It’s my home and Sadiq Khan is a disaster.’
Ben and Vanessa, 62, first got together in 2005 and got engaged the following year but split in February 2023 after 16 years together, because he was unfaithful.
The singer admitted that he had slept with one woman and shared inappropriate texts with another.
There’s been no love lost between the former couple as Ben explosively slammed Vanessa, claiming she stole the ‘best years of my life’ and used him as ‘eye candy’.
Since Vanessa went public about their split, Ben said he has been left ‘picking up the pieces’, with his ex ‘spinning a narrative to make me look like the bad guy’ when he felt he had also been mistreated.

She confessed to Heat: ‘I had one dinner with some fellow last night, and I absolutely couldn’t stand him before the soup, I didn’t like him.’
However, despite the bad date, the star still refuses to spend a night at home as she admitted that she has been ‘out every night for a year’.
The TV personality – who previously joked that she went on ‘thousands of dates’ while on Celebs Go Dating – revealed she doesn’t enjoy staying at home.
She confessed: ‘I’ve been out every night for more than a year. I stayed home one night a few months ago and I still didn’t really like it.’
Vanessa also revealed to the publication that she tends to ‘settle down incredibly quickly’ however, has now realised that’s not the best option for her.
She admitted: ‘I’ve always settled down incredibly quickly, and I’m not sure that’s always been the best thing, really.’

Meanwhile, it was reported in March that Ben is reportedly set to marry his girlfriend Precious Muir after three months of dating.
The musician’s romance with reality star Previous, 33, was confirmed in December and he was recently overheard introducing her as ‘my soon-to-be wife’ at an event.
An onlooker told The Mirror: ‘Ben was very open about the fact he is planning to wed Precious – and soon. He gave the air of being as pleased as punch.
‘It was a surprise given the length of time they’ve been together, but they both seemed very happy.’
