Ben Affleck and Matt Damon opened up about their decades-long friendship while promoting their new film The Rip on the Today show this week.
The Boston natives – Affleck, 53, and Damon, 55 – revealed to journalist Craig Melvin what their ‘least favorite’ things about each other are on Tuesday morning’s episode.
‘Um, [he’s] not great at cleaning up around the house,’ Affleck said about Damon, to which his friend objected, ‘Hey! [That was] when I was younger.’
The Air director then quipped, ‘Well, that’s all I have to go by,’ before joking, ‘I mean, we could ask your wife and see if it’s gotten better.’
Damon later named Affleck’s lateness as the thing that bugs him most.Â
‘We got here this morning and Ben was three minutes early. He got here before me and that’s the first time in 45 years he has not been late,’ he teased.

The banter continued as Affleck hit back: ‘Oh my god, that’s a complete myth. I work hard. I’m doing other stuff.’
He also joked that his acting counterpart lives ‘the life of luxury’ as he went on, ‘You come out of the trailer and everything’s done magically. How do you think it gets that way? But it’s fine.’
The frequent collaborators – whose 1997 movie Good Will Hunting earned them an Oscar – will next star in Joe Carnahan’s thriller about Miami cops who seize millions of dollars.Â
It comes after Damon revealed on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show that his wife Luciana thought Affleck was ‘the cute one’ in the classic film.
The actor and Luciana, 49, met at a Miami bar in 2003 before going on to tie the knot three years later.
However, months into their relationship, he found out his wife was more attracted to his co-star.
‘After we’d been together for a little while, probably a few months, she admitted that – I think I met her best friend from high school, and it came out that the two of them went and saw Good Will Hunting together, and her best friend thought I was the cute one, and she thought Ben was the cute one.
‘So she admitted to me… I’m like, “You got the wrong one?” She told me that 23 years ago,’ the star confessed.

When asked if hearing something like that ‘stays with you’ over the years, Damon pointed out the trio now work together often.
His wife is a producer on The Rip, as well as Affleck’s next directorial project Animals.
Affleck said about the matter: ‘She’s a great producer and a really good friend, and yeah, I never got that vibe from her. So I think something I did in real life rubbed it off.’
‘Finally she met him and all that went away,’ Damon lightheartedly added.
The filmmaking duo were the screenwriters and stars of the 1997 hit movie, a film that earned them Oscars for best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Robin Williams.
Damon met Barroso six years later in Miami while filming his movie Stuck on You. The pair share four daughters: Alexia, 25, Isabella, 19, Gia, 17, and Stella, 15.
