Ben Affleck revealed that he was in a celebrity Octordle group which left him ‘seriously humbled’ in a hilarious chat with The Hollywood Reporter recently.
The 51-year-old actor spoke about how he had become quite the fan of the Wordle-esque game, in which players are required to complete eight-letter words in three guesses.
The Argo director, who was recently spotted while having a tense conversation with his wife Jennifer Lopez, also stated that his friends and opponents put up much more of a competition than he initially realized.
Affleck stated: ‘I expected to do fairly well, so I was seriously humbled…It’s fiercely competitive, and there’s a lot of mockery and derision. So I’m in training.’
The performer also revealed three of his celebrity competitors, although he quickly changed his mind about revealing more of his opponents to the public.

‘Matt [Damon]’s one of them. Jason Bateman and Bradley [Cooper], and…actually, the first rule of Wordle is don’t talk about Wordle. Unless you get it in three guesses,’ he said.
Affleck then revealed that he had to temporarily stop playing the game after he contracted coronavirus.
‘I had the no-energy COVID, where it was too much work to pick up the phone to play Octordle,’ he recalled.
He then advised his friends not to ‘be impressed,’ as the game was ‘not harder’ than Wordle.
Affleck also admitted that he previously felt as if he had an advantage with Octordle based on his past interests.
‘I used to do the crossword compulsively in the mornings and think I was good at word games. And let’s face it, going up against actors, it’s not a high bar,’ he said.
The performer went on to speak about his longtime friendship with Damon, 52, whom he has known since childhood.
The pair received widespread attention after co-writing the 1997 feature Good Will Hunting, in which they also co-starred.
