Below Deck Sailing Yacht star is sued for sexual battery over 2022 attempted assault incident

One of Bravo’s Below Deck Sailing Yacht stars has found himself in some legal hot water, facing a lawsuit for sexual battery.

A former makeup artist from the show – Samantha Suarez – filed a lawsuit claiming one of the show’s main stars tried to pressure her into having sex with him.

The incident happened in 2022, when the cast member instructed Suarez to bring a snack to his hotel, which was reported back in August 2023.

The cast member – said to be under the influence of alcohol – then tried to restrain Suarez when she tried to leave.

She then had fight him off and rush to the door, when a fortuitous phone call from another cast member caused him to back down.

Who is this mystery Below Deck Sailing Yacht cast member? It’s none other than First Officer Gary King, who has been on the show since Season 2.

When Suarez tried to leave King’s room, he grabbed her and restrained her by the upper body and arms.

The makeup artist feared she was going to be raped by King and started trying to fight him off in the hotel room.

Suarez claims King then slammed the door shut with both hands, putting his full weight into door, blocking her way out.

Before making her next move, another crew member called her phone, as she quickly answered.

When he realized the other crew member could hear what’s going on, he let her go from the room.

Suarez’s colleague and boyfriend Grey Duddleston reported the incident, with King even admitting it happened.

However, instead of King being let go, Duddleston was investigated for ‘inappropriate use of the walkie-talkie system,’ before he and Suarez were ultimately fired.

The lawsuit also alleges that Suarez and Duddleston were put on a ‘do not hire’ list after their dismissal.

Suarez is suing for sexual battery, hostile work environment, retaliation and wrongful termination.

While it’s said she’s seeking ‘big damages,’ no specifics on a dollar amount have been revealed at this time.

King debuted on Below Deck Sailing Yacht in Season 2, which followed the crew as they sailed on a 177-foot yacht to Croatia.

He’s also been the First Officer on each season since then where they have sailed to Menorca, Spain, Sardinia, Italy and Ibiza, Spain.
