He may have spent thousands of pounds whisking his family to Paris and Bordeaux for his lavish 50th celebrations in May – but I can reveal there’s one surprising thing that Sir David Beckham refused to splash out on at his Michelin-star birthday meal in London: gravy.
I’m told that even though Becks hosted his family and friends at Core – a swanky Notting Hill restaurant where dinner costs £225 per person – the former footballer requested a classic dish of pie drizzled with Bisto.
Instead of opting for a delicious gravy made by the finest chefs, Becks insisted that his sauce was crafted from Bisto gravy granules – which cost a mere £2.95 for 190g at Sainsbury’s.
The seven-course meal at Core, which was attended by the Beckhams’ close friends Tom Cruise, Eva Longoria and Gordon Ramsay, was just one part of a decadent four days of celebrations for Sir David’s 50th.
The glamorous events kicked off with a black-tie party at the family’s Cotswolds estate, followed by a spot of wine-tasting in Bordeaux, a slap-up meal at Sir David’s favourite restaurant in Paris, L’Ami Louis, before they all checked in to the plush five-star hotel, La Reserve.

The Beckhams’ eldest son Brooklyn and his wife Nicola did not attend the birthday celebrations, which intensified speculation that the couple had fallen out with the rest of the brood.
It’s not the first time Sir David has shown his passion for Bisto: he shared his surprising recipes on Instagram during the pandemic, which included a shepherd’s pie doused in Bisto gravy.
Perhaps Sir Becks will strike up an advertising deal with the brand. Aah! Bisto? More like, aah! Becks.
Mama Mia’s not impressed
I fear Mia Southgate’s mother Alison is growing weary with her daughter’s quest for the perfect Instagram reel.

Mia, 24, whose father is former England manager Gareth, showed in a post that Alison, 58, right with Mia, has been acting as her camerawoman.
In the video, Mia says: ‘Outfit of the day today,’ to which Alison snarls: ‘This is doing my absolute head in.’
Dua’s dad lays into festival freeloaders
Pop star Dua Lipa’s father has launched a scathing attack on fans who asked for free tickets to see the singer perform at a festival in Kosovo last week.

Dukagjin Lipa, 47, co-organiser of the event, wrote: ‘All of you who are asking for free tickets, NONE of you are a social case.
You can’t put all of Kosovo in VIP!’ Looks like in this case VIP stood for Very Irritated Papa!

He has reportedly struck up a close friendship with Italy’s Princess Vittoria of Savoy.
The pair have been seen at a football game in Paris and sharing cosy evenings in with friends.

Former Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing has been outed as a teenage drug dealer… by his mother.
Speaking on her son’s podcast, Penny Baines admitted to snooping on Jamie’s phone as he was growing up.
‘I read your texts,’ she confessed, before revealing the bombshell message: ‘I can’t get you this but I can get you MDMA [ecstasy].’

Mane-changer
Is Kate Moss’s sister Lottie seeking a new career as an Aussie Rules footie player?
I only ask because the 27-year-old has been showing off a shaggy mullet hairstyle, beloved of players of the sport.

Lottie Moss has been showing off a shaggy mullet hairstyle recently
Lottie was spotted showcasing her new look at posh Notting Hill restaurant The Fat Badger.
Lottie’s top topic of the evening however, seemed to be her sadness that another swanky venue, the Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone, ravaged by fire earlier this year, remains closed.
