His wife is known for her love of heels so it comes as no surprise that David Beckham wanted to make sure he looked tall next to her during his knighthood photocall.Ā
Standing at 6ft tall alongside his wife Victoria’s petite 5ft 4″ frame, it’s fair to say that David, 50, boasts an enviable height.
But it seems he took a little inspiration from his friend Tom Cruise, 63, and wore shoes that had a little height in them to make sure he still towered over his wife.Ā
David cut quite the dashing figure when he posed for pictures at Windsor Castle after he was made a Sir on Tuesday at the behest of King Charles.Ā
He wore a suit inspired by one the king wore in his younger years and was the first menswear look to be designed by Victoria Beckham’s atelier.Ā Ā Ā
Lift it like (Sir) Beckham! David added just a little height to his look with ‘heeled’ shoes when he was made a knight at the behest of King Charles at Windsor Castle on TuesdayĀ

Victoria, 51, hasĀ given fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the painstaking design process behind the look, created exclusively for the former footballer’s investiture.Ā
A medium-weight construction, the three-piece look was crafted with the finest British wool mohair and embellished with a series of Royal flourishes, notably the distinctive lapel chain.Ā
The former Manchester United and England legend rounded off the look with a crisp white shirt, tie and his polished black derby shoes.
Victoria, meanwhile, wore a custom version of her brand’s popular Bela dress – perhaps symbolising the future of her fashion brand: a dual approach with clothing for both men and women.Ā
Captioning a photo of herself alongside Sir David, Victoria wrote: ‘A day weāll never forget. David wears the first ever tailored menswear piece from the Victoria Beckham atelier – a bespoke three-piece morning suit in British wool mohair, inspired by the timeless sophistication of British royal style.Ā

‘Iām so proud of you.Ā Thankful for this moment and for my incredible team who worked so hard to bring the vision to life.’
Sir David was made a knight of the British empire for services to sport and charity during Tuesday’s investiture, notably his impact on football over a twenty year period and subsequent ambassadorial role with UNICEF
Asked about his brief exchange with King Charles following the ceremony, the former footballer said: ‘He was quite impressed with my suit.’
Sir David admitted the tweed loving King had served as a somewhat unlikely inspiration for the suit, an elegant grey wool affair replete with single pleated trousers, tailed jacket and distinctive lapel chain.
‘He’s kind of the most elegantly dressed man that I know, so he inspired quite a few of my looks over the years and he definitely inspired this look,’ he explained.
‘It was something that my wife made me. I looked at old pictures of him when he was quite young in morning suits and I was like, OK, that’s what I want to wear, so I gave it to my wife and she did it.’
His look bore a striking resemblance to the morning suit favoured by Charles during an appearance at an Ascot polo tournament in 1979- right down to the finest details.
