Bec Judd Shares Shocking Detention by Security in Thailand: ‘They Called Me Bangkok Becky’

Bec Judd has shared a shocking school holiday ordeal that almost saw her arrested in Thailand.

Speaking on her Vain-ish podcast with co-host Jess Roberts, Bec, 42, revealed that a family trip almost ended in tragedy thanks to her eight-year-old twin boys Tom and Darcy.

She told Jess that she wanted to take her family to Thailand as the country held a very special place in her heart.    

‘We went to one of my favourite places in the world – Thailand. I love Thailand. I lived there for a year when I was 19. They called me Bangkok Becky,’ she said.

Bec added that Tom and Darcy were consumed with purchasing as many toy guns as they could during the trip.

‘[In Thailand] there’s all those markets on every corner and they [Tom and Darcy] were saying: “Can we go and find some toy guns? We want Nerfs, we want BB guns, we want any type of water gun,”‘ she said.

‘”We just want to go on a toy gun adventure across Thailand to every market to find whatever gun we can find,”.’

With the boys’ weapon haul complete, it was time for the Judds to leave Thailand, and Bec admitted to coming down with a bout of what she thought was gastroenteritis on the final day.

As she was sitting in the airport terminal, ‘trying not to vomit’, chills went up her spine when she was summoned over the public address system. 

‘As I’m sitting there trying to sleep I hear: “Can Mrs Rebecca Jane Judd please report to the desk?”‘

After being asked to show her boarding pass, Bec said that she was ushered into a small room, where a suitcase sat ominously on a table.

‘I go into this little room and there’s a suitcase there.  Guess whose suitcase it is? It’s Tom and Darcy’s,’ she said as Jess burst into fits of laughter.  

‘I had five armed security officers say to me: “Do you have guns in your bag?” They had X-rayed all the suitcases,’ she said. 

They’re like: “Ma’am you’re going to have to undo your suitcase.” I undo the suitcase and there’s two replica Glocks sitting on top.’

Bec said that she attempted to grab the offending weapons in an attempt to prove they were toys which was met with a stern: “Stand back, don’t touch the evidence.”  

‘A lady picks up a Glock and fires into the ground to make sure it wasn’t real, we’re all good, they’re toy guns.’

With the crisis over, Bec said she was allowed to keep the weapons after signing a declaration stating they were toys.

The Judds were staying at the ritzy Club Med Phuket and Bec shared a glimpse of the trip in an Instagram video.

She also dropped a pretty penny on the trip, with a family room for her brood costing as much as $1500 per night at the seaside venue. 

In her clip, Bec had a fancy dinner out before hitting the beach, as well as showcasing the many activities for her kids available. 

Those included water slides, golf and archery, as well as various luxurious pools for a quick dip. 

‘Delivering with non-stop activities and excursions,’ Bec explained of the resort. 

‘The kids are obsessed with the pitch and putt golf and we’ve been playing padel every day,’ she continued.

‘Don’t laugh at my active attire (owns an activewear company and exercises in a dress).’
