BBC radio presenter dies suddenly after 40 years on air

BBC radio host Tim Jibson has passed away at the age of 76. 

It was announced on Wednesday that the presenter died earlier this month after an obituary for him was published. 

It reveals he died ‘suddenly but peacefully’ on February 9 whilst ‘surrounded by his loving family’ after ‘the most wonderful day on holiday’. 

He is survived by his wife Ann Marie Jibson and his three children Michael, Paul and Lexi, as well as by his three grandchild. 

The obituary added that Tim was ‘a good friend to many’ and that he will be ‘reunited with missed family members’. 

Tim began his career more than four decades ago and worked on BBC Radio Humberside for a large portion of his career.

The star presented shows including the Paull Hunsley Electric Wireless Show and interviewed famous faces including T. Rex band frontman Marc Bolan and the late Tammy Wynette. 

He also worked for Beverley FM and Viking FM during his decades-long career in the industry.

Tim’s sons have followed his footsteps into the entertainment industry and are both actors. 

Michael received an Olivier Award for his performance in King George III in the original West End cast of Hamilton. 

The star, who is married to fellow actor Caroline Sheen, has also appeared in a number of TV shows including Netflix’s Bodies and ITV’s Quiz. 

Taking to Twitter friends and colleagues shared their condolences after hearing the news. 

They penned: ‘ Devastated to hear of the passing of my good friend Tim Jibson. Tim gave me my chance in radio and believed in me when others didn’t. 

‘We were friends for nearly fifty years. I have so much to thank him for. Love and condolences to Ann Marie, Mike, Paul and all family and friends’;
