‘He always said when he quit the BBC One soap that he felt there was one defining role that had so far eluded him.

‘Maybe he’s finally found that part on Mr Bigstuff. Sky execs certainly seem very impressed.’

Danny plays estranged, wayward brother, Lee, trying to patch up his sibling rivalry.

The storyline is described as a ‘story of two estranged brothers; Glen (Ryan Sampson), a nervy perfectionist striving to live the suburban ideal and Lee (Dyer) an alpha male with a prescription drug addiction and a biscuit tin full of his dad’s ashes.

Glen and his fiancée share a perfect yet mundane life – as despite him suffering crippling erectile dysfunction and Kirsty has a secret shoplifting habit, but they’re happy.

This soon comes to a close when Lee crashes into their lives while on the run from his past, and their perfect lives start to fall apart.

The star said: ‘I thought, ‘Oh wow, this is totally different from the character of Mick, and something that people have never really seen me do before.’

‘This is a joy. To be on a set where everyone’s laughing, it’s a different kind of energy.
