Bam Margera is officially making his return to the Jackass franchise – after being booted from the previous film for allegedly violating a ‘wellness agreement.’
The 46-year-old stunt performer – who has reached sobriety following years of substance abuse – recently reached a deal with producers for Jackass 5 following negotiations, TMZ reported.Â
Archival footage featuring Margera that has not been seen before will be used in the upcoming project, and is unclear if the star will officially take part in new stunts or shoot new material.Â
The TV personality was part of the original Jackass cast alongside Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, the late Ryan Dunn, Chris Pontius, Jason ‘Wee Man’ Acuna, Dave England, Preston Lacy and Ehren McGheney.Â
The next installment in the franchise is slated to hit theaters through Paramount Pictures later this year on June 26. Â
Daily Mail has reached out to reps for Margera, Knoxville, and director Jeff Tremaine but did not immediately hear back.Â

Tremaine has previously stepped behind the camera to direct the other Jackass movies – but it has not officially been confirmed if he has also signed on for the fifth film.Â
Knoxville announced earlier this week on Wednesday that Jackass 5 is set to hit theaters this summer.Â
‘Well a wang dang and hot d**n doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang,’ the star penned on Instagram.
‘We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!! We will see you in theatres June 26th. More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first!!’Â
Steve-O called another installment in the franchise ‘epic’ during a conversation with TMZ at LAX airport on Thursday.Â
‘I’ve got my own ideas that, you know, are pretty outrageous. So yeah, I’m ready to go,’ he teased to the publication.Â
He also commented on Margera reaching a deal with Jackass 5 producers and said, ‘Bam’s doing great. No question about it.’Â
On the topic of Margera’s involvement, Steve-O continued, ‘I think that some stuff still needs to be worked out, but there is nothing that would be better than a full circle redemption, triumphant return.

‘And you know, us to ride into the sunset like on a win, like all of us together – the whole band.’Â
Margera was fired from Jackass Forever in 2021 for allegedly ‘failing to abide by conditions’ that had been set by producers which included ‘staying sober and taking routine drug tests.’
He reportedly broke the contract – which had conditions the star allegedly needed to follow such as taking his medication, blowing into a breathalyzer and doing routine drug tests during the production of the movie.Â
At one point, the star tested positive for Adderall before being kicked off the project – though he claimed he had been prescribed the drug by doctors. Â
Margera went on to sue Paramount as well as Knoxville and Tremaine for wrongful termination and also alleged he received ‘inhumane treatment’ when he was fired.
He went on to claim that three individuals forced him to sign a ‘wellness agreement’ during his stint in rehab back in 2019 before he could take part in Jackass 4.Â
In April 2022, it was reported that the stunt performer dismissed the lawsuit after reaching a settlement.Â
And following years of alcohol and drug abuse as well as legal issues, Margera has reached sobriety.Â

During an interview with Fox News Digital last year in June, the TV personality reflected on being nearly two years sober – and revealed what has helped him along the journey.Â
‘I realized I don’t need to be on any medication – skateboarding is my medication. As long as I do a trick a day, it keeps my sanity sane.’Â
Margera – who has been to rehab 13 times – further discussed how turning to his passion for skateboarding saved him.Â
‘I need skateboarding in my life, or else I’ll die. I need skateboarding in my life in order to fulfill it. If you don’t have any passion for anything, then you lose purpose.’
He added, ‘When you lose purpose, you get bored, and then boredom leads to drugs and alcohol. I can’t get bored. I’m completely occupied with learning my skate tricks back.’Â
Knoxville has previously talked about Margera’s battle with substance abuse and told Variety back in 2022 that he hadn’t ‘spoken’ to his castmate ‘in about a year and a half’ at the time.Â

But before reaching negotiations to be a part of Jackass 5, Margera had shared he did not intend to appear in the franchise again.Â
‘What they did to me, making me go to treatment and paying for it, and then not putting me in a movie, and, you know, I had to go to court over it,’ the star told CinemaBlend in July 2025.Â
‘You couldn’t offer me enough money to want to do another Jackass with them. The damage has been done.’Â
