Great British Bake Off runner up Dylan Bachelet has wowed his new bosses at a Michelin star fine dining restaurant with his humble and down-to-earth approach.
The pastry prodigy was a firm favourite to win this year’s competition but lost out to Welsh paedriatic nurse Georgie Grasso after cracking under the pressure in the final challenges.
But fans of the show were relieved to find out yesterday that the 20-year-old had landed his dream job as a chef at a trendy restaurant The Five Fields in west London’s exclusive Chelsea area.
Dylan started the job just weeks ago after wrapping up filming for Bake Off and simply told colleagues he had been a contestant – giving no indication of how well he had done.
Restaurant manager Matthew told MailOnline: ‘We were very shocked. We had no idea when he applied how well he had done, all he listed was that he was a Great British Bake Off contestant, he didn’t say how well he had done.
‘He started working here a few weeks ago and he has kept his cards very close to his chest and none of us had any idea how far along he had gone.’

The manager added that he is ‘very charming’ and the restaurant had been ‘overwhelmed’ by the reaction to Dylan’s success.
The Five Fields is a cosy modern British restaurant with around a dozen tables that has been operating from the heart of Chelsea since 2013.
Using ingredients sourced from their own farm in East Sussex, menus change week on week depending on what seasonal produce is available.
The upmarket restaurant, with an extensive wine list, offers a set menu for £80 per head. Starters this week included oysters, scallops or lobster, while mains include duck, deer and cod. Diners were then offered a pear tart to finish alongside a crème fraîche ice cream.
A tasting menu for £170 per person is also available offering 12 different dishes, which can be served with a wine pairing.
Over the last decade it has won countless awards for its innovative approach, including Squaremeal’s Restaurant of the Year, four AA Rosettes and its one Michelin star.
Bake Off viewers were relieved to learn Dylan landed his dream job following a disastrous final episode.
Following a near perfect run on the show including two star baker awards, Dylan crumbled during the show’s grand finale on Tuesday night.

However, the pressure of the final proved too much for the former retail assistant, who delivered less than impressive scones and came in last place in the technical.
Fans admitted they were watching the last episode from behind their hands as Dylan and the other finalists approached the final showstopper.
But it wasn’t meant to be for Dylan, as he failed to impress with his ‘gravity defying’ floating cake inspired by the Italian town of Murano, as he delivered a ‘lumpy’ and ‘concertinaed’ sponge.

‘Dylan has been very good at not letting on how well he has done so we are all cheering him on each episode. We couldn’t be more proud of his accomplishments!!
Delighted fans shared their thoughts on Dylan’s new job following his disappointing run in the final.’
They said: ‘ARE YOU JOKING THAT BAKE OFF FINAL WAS SO CUTE AND DYLAN BECOMING A MICHELIN STAR CHEF?!! THANK YOU ALL’; ‘Bitterly disappointed Dylan didn’t win, we think the pressure was too much for a 20yr old, but then to read he’s got a job in a Michelin Star restaurant was the icing on the Bake Off cake’;
‘Dylan in a Michelin star restaurant? Who really won?’; ‘Just catching up on Bake Off, no way did they give it to Georgie. Her final bake looked stunning but genuinely surprised she even made the final. Dylan was my champion for sure – such a shame he had a shocker of a final, he’s been amazing throughout’;
