For many families the start of September signals a fresh, new academic year with kids heading back to school in the autumn.
And as autumn and a new term rolls around, some of ITV’s Good Morning Britain presenters have been reflecting on their time at school.
They have also shared pictures of themselves during their time in early education and discussed what they would tell their younger selves now if they could.
So take a look below and see if you can guess which TV stars you can recognise from their old snaps…
Who is this GMB star in their old school picture?
It’s Susanna Reid!
Susanna, now 53, has been a regular face on morning and daytime television.
She was a co-presenter of BBC Breakfast from 2001 until 2014 alongside Bill Turnbull and Charlie Stayt and since has worked on GMB.
She said of her time at school: ‘I went to three schools – and enjoyed those days.
‘I wasn’t great at sport but I’d sometimes throw myself into competitions even though I wasn’t the same standard as the girls who were good.

‘I watched the Australian breakdancer at the Olympics with an air of awkward recognition.’
She also chatted about her time of during summer, saying: ‘This summer I took my boys to Ibiza.
‘I have been going for ten years and it was amazing to really enjoy it with my boys now they are old enough to go clubbing.
‘We go to the day clubs together and then I go back to the hotel and they go to the nightclubs!’
This presenter is a key figure on the morning show – but can you guess who it is?
It’s Charlotte Hawkins!
Charlotte, now 49, is also never far from the GMB studio.
Hawkins joined ITV’s Meridian Tonight in 2003, hosting main news programme, leaving in 2006 to become co-presenter of Sky’s breakfast programme Sunrise with Eamonn Holmes – before heading to GMB.
She said of her school picture: ‘This photo is from primary school, I think I must have been around 6.
‘I loved school back then, and made some really good friends.

‘The message I would tell my younger self is don’t worry, keep working hard and you will get that dream job!’
Of her recent summer holidays she added: ‘One of our highlights was a fabulous family water sports activity holiday which we loved every minute of!
‘We went sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and even a bit of waterskiing.
‘It was blissful, great to have an active holiday and be able to do that together as a family.
Can you tell which GMB star this is from their school picture?
It’s Richard Madeley!
Richard, now 68, has reflected on what he would tell his younger self after a successful career in TV.
He said: ‘If I was speaking to my younger self who was just about to start a career in television, which was like 46 years ago, I would tell my younger self ‘don’t take yourself seriously’ and I have applied that actually for quite a long time now.
‘I think people in television who take themselves seriously because they’re on television, are somewhere between ridiculous and misguided.
‘I mean, obviously you want to be professional and you want to do the best job you can and you take your work and your job seriously, but you mustn’t take yourself seriously just because you’re on the telly and people recognise you at the supermarket.
Richard
‘I would say to my younger self, ‘Richard, it’s only telly, chill!”
Alongside his wife Judy Finnigan, he presented ITV’s This Morning and the Channel 4 chat show Richard & Judy.
Madeley’s solo projects include the series Fortune: Million Pound Giveaway and covering for The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2.
Who is this Good Morning Britain presenter as a child?
It’s Adil Ray!
Adil, now 50, has reflected on his time at primary school as he shared his old snap.
He said: ‘I really loved primary school. I remember having lots of fun, but I was the only Asian kid in my school so that was kind of tricky at times.
‘But, it gave me a kind of unique position in the school. I remember when it was Eid, the teacher would let me explain what Eid is to the class and I remember taking Indian sweets in and sharing them with everybody. So in that way, primary school was really quite positive.
‘Secondary school was really tough for me. I was going through a difficult time at home with my mum and dad’s divorce, and I just didn’t concentrate.
‘I stared out the window for the whole of secondary school and barely scraped through. I know lots of kids will be going through the same thing and it can be a really tough time at school if you’ve got difficulties at home.
‘It wasn’t the easiest time for me, I scraped through my A levels, got through clearing, went to university, it was Huddersfield Polytechnic at the time but ended up with a 2:1 degree and a successful career.
Adil and Susanna
‘School isn’t always the best of times for some people, and not everyone can come out with shiny A-level results and lots of great A’s and B’s but that doesn’t mean it’s the be all and end all. So I would say, for those who are a bit like me at school, don’t worry about it – it will all turn out okay.’
And finally do you recognise this GMB star?
It’s Richard Arnold!
Richard, now 54, is the Entertainment Editor for ITV’s breakfast show Good Morning Britain.
He said of his early education: ‘I loved school. I was never picked for the team in PE so they suggested I try the chess club but monochrome was never a good look on a youngster who preferred a colour pop.
Richard
‘I had some cracking teachers – especially when we moved to Scotland when I was 11 years-old.
‘What would I tell my younger self? Enjoy stretch denim whilst you can.’
Good Morning Britain airs live from 6am weekdays on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
