Channel Nine has been slammed over its decision to film the finale of The Golden Bachelor at the foot of a mountain range in South Africa.
While providing a spectacular backdrop for Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden and Sunny Long to announce their love for one another, online critics said the spot was too windy.
Fans also said the pair of lovebirds looked cold and awkward as they went through the finale with Cape Town’s Twelve Apostles mountain range behind them.
A clip shared to Instagram shows the high wind playing havoc with Sunny’s hair styling and Bear’s jacket.
‘Surely they could have relocated to a less windy area ffs,’ commented one viewer on the post, while another added, ‘So awkward.’
Another fan mocked Bear’s comment to Sunny: ‘You blow me away’ and added, ‘She [Sunny] is actually freezing, poor thing.’

A third viewer found the choice detracted from what was supposed to be an emotional high point for the pair.
‘OMG I was so distracted,’ they commented.
Meanwhile, a follower explained: ‘They filmed the finale in Cape Town. There’s never anywhere that isn’t windy there. We call it the windy city.’
It comes after the 61-year-old engineer gave his heart to the 58-year-old CEO.Â
The couple have revealed that they are still together – and kept their love alive in the months since filming on the reality show ended with a series of secret hookups.Â
The engineer, 61, and his CEO ladylove, 58, have met up in a series of spicy Airbnb dates.Â
‘There were a few secret meetings at Airbnbs. We had to show up at different times and sort of rush in,’ Sunny told Woman’s Day on Sunday.Â
‘We couldn’t stand by the windows. I think you said it was a bit of fun sneaking around, there was a bit of excitement?’ she added, addressing Bear.Â
‘You know, it was a bit, he’s Mr Bond and I’m his Bond girl.’

In a shock confession, Bear even hinted that marriage may be in their future.Â
‘We’ve got a lot of things to discuss,’ he told the publication of a possible engagement between them.Â
Sunny confirmed that the pair ‘have huge feelings for each other’ but are taking things slowly – for now.Â
‘Both of us want to see our love grow organically, so we’re going to take it one step at a time,’ she said.Â
In a truly heart-warming moment during Sunday’s finale, Bear confessed his feelings to Sunny as he picked her as his final lady. Â
‘You amaze me with your resilience. You blow me away. You’re a force of nature. You deserve somebody to lift you up and never clip your wings,’ Bear told a tearful Sunny.Â
‘When I think about the future, I can’t imagine doing it without you.’
Sobbing, Sunny said: ‘For me, my dark days are gone and bright days are here because of you.  I can’t wait to go on this journey with you in life.’
