The Kid Laroi has narrowly avoided his ex-girlfriend Tate McRae at the MTV VMAs on Sunday night.
The couple, who are believed to have called it quits in July, both attended the awards ceremony but it’s unclear if they actually came into contact with one another.
Laroi, real name Charlton Kenneth Jeffrey Howard, walked the red carpet in a white tuxedo and black buttoned shirt.
He accessorised his look with a pair of shiny black shoes and a silver watch.
Later in the evening, McRae posed on the red carpet in a revealing black leotard and stockings.
She couldn’t wipe the smile off her face as she held her awards after winning Song of Summer and Best Editing.

It is a stark contrast to last year’s awards, where Laroi and McRae packed on the PDA.
The Australian singer wrapped his arm around McRae and gave her a loving kiss on the cheek for the cameras before gazing at the Greedy hitmaker.
He didn’t appear to leave her side as they chatted with other big-name guests like Lil Nas X and Chappell Roan.
They were also seen entering the venue hand in hand and appeared smitten with each other throughout the night, despite strutting the red carpet separately.
Laroi confirmed his romance with McRae in 2024 after months of speculation.
The Australian rapper revealed their relationship during a concert in Ireland on April 14.
He appeared to confirm their split back in July when he said they were ‘on good terms’ after fans accused his team of paying for ‘slander tweets’ against her.
Back in January, Laroi and McRae shared new loved-up photos with their combined nine million Instagram followers.

They were joined on the sun-filled beach holiday by friends Olivia Rodrigo and Louis Partridge, also both 21, who are also dating.
Laroi snapped two mirror selfies with the Canadian songstress.
Tate’s caption featured a string of mermaid, magic wand, and anatomical heart emoji, with the caption: ‘i almost cried at that waterfall.’
Meanwhile, her boyfriend’s caption simply read: ‘#blessed.’
