Awkward! Demi Moore avoids run-in with Mikey Madison at Vanity Fair Oscars Party after THAT frosty reaction to Anora star beating her out for Best Actress gong

Demi Moore and Mikey Madison appeared to avoid each other as they both attended the Vanity Fair Oscars Party at the Wallis Annenberg Center, after competing against each other for Best Actress.

Mikey, 25, triumphed over Demi, 62, Fernanda Torres, Karla Sofia Gascon, and Cynthia Erivo, to win the coveted gong for her starring performance in Anora.

Her win came as a slight surprise to many as Demi had been seen as the frontrunner to take home the trophy for The Substance after winning all the major awards – bar the BAFTA – in the run up to Sunday’s ceremony.

And the actress couldn’t hide her disappointment, with cameras capturing her looking crushed as her name wasn’t called, clenching her jaw and muttering a one-word reaction as she politely clapped for Mikey.

However, despite losing out on her first Oscar, Demi was still all smiles as she arrived with grace to the Vanity Fair party.

But in another blow, she risked being upstaged for the second time that night as Sydney Sweeney arrived at the prestigious bash in nearly the same dress.

While both actresses looked sensational in their respective looks, Demi and Sydney’s glittering halterneck gowns were strikingly similar in style.

Both sequin dresses featured cut out sections across the bust, teasing their ample cleavage as well as a high halter neck cut.

Their stunning gowns were also both cinched at the waist to reveal their svelte frames and both of the floor-length outfits cascaded down to the ground.

But while Demi’s number was a glittering gold colour, Sydney, 27, opted for a pale pink version.

Meanwhile, the Ghost star was notably not photographed near Mikey inside the party, with the rising star instead being seen celebrating with her Anora cast and crew.

The actress oozed Hollywood glamour at the bash as she arrived in a plunging black gown, cinched in at the waist and a matching shawl draped over her arms.

She added an eye-catching diamond and ruby necklace and beamed widely as she proudly held up her Oscar statuette, freshly engraved with her name.

Mikey was joined by her Anora co-stars Mark Eydelshteyn and Yura Borisov and fellow winners director Sean Baker and his producer wife Alex Coco, who also proudly displayed their four awards.

Her icy reaction to her Best Actress snub went viral earlier in the evening, with some of her fans voicing their own frustration that she lost out on social media.

While many expressed their excitement and praise for Mikey, one user said Demi was ‘robbed’ and another called it the ‘biggest snub in Oscars history.’

Demi could be seen tensely muttering a single word reaction when Mikey’s name was read out, with lip reader Nicola Hickling exclusively telling DailyMail.com what she was saying.

She explained: ‘Demi says “nice” but she isn’t smiling when she says it. Her body is almost nodding like she had to force herself to say it.’

Mikey portrays an escort in Anora, an independent film with a $6 million budget and recognized the sex worker community in a touching acceptance speech.

She said: ‘I also just want to, again, recognize and honor the sex worker community. I will. Yes. I will continue to support and be an ally.

‘All of the incredible people, the women that I’ve had the privilege of meeting from that community has been one of the highlights of this incredible experience.’

She concluded her speech by recognizing her fellow nominees including A-lister Demi.

Mikey said: ‘I also just want to recognize the thoughtful, intelligent, beautiful, breathtaking work of my fellow nominees. I’m honored to be recognized alongside all of you.

‘This is a dream come true, I’m probably going to wake up tomorrow. Thank you so much, Sean [Baker], I adore you. This is all because of you. Thank you.’

This year’s Academy Awards saw Anora dominate the night with five wins, including Mikey’s Best Actress, and writer and director Sean’s Best Original Screenplay, Achievement in Film Editing, and Best Director.

At the end of the night the film earned top prize Best Picture Award over The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez, I’m Still Here, Nickel Boys, The Substance, and Wicked.

The film is centered around a young escort named Ani (played by Mikey) from Brooklyn meets and impulsively marries the son of a Russian oligarch.

Once the news reaches Russia, her fairy tale is threatened as his parents set out for New York to get the marriage annulled.

Other big winners on Sunday night included Zoe Saldana, who took home the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in the controversial Emilia Perez, and Kieran Culkin, who kicked off the evening with a Best Supporting Actor win for A Real Pain.

Adrien scored the Best Actor award with his performance in the The Brutalist, making his second win the category, and stopped the exit music from playing as he gave a lengthy speech.

He beat out an impressive field including: Timothée Chalamet — A Complete Unknown, Colman Domingo — Sing Sing, Ralph Fiennes — Conclave, and Sebastian Stan — The Apprentice.

Adrian, 51, previously won Best Actor for his work on classic film The Piano back in 2003.

Zoe shook off the controversy surrounding her film Emilia Pérez as she earned Best Supporting Actress.

The show hit a high note as the 46-year-old American actress was crowned for the Netflix film.

She triumphed over: Monica Barbaro — A Complete Unknown, Ariana Grande — Wicked, Felicity Jones — The Brutalist, and Isabella Rossellini — Conclave.

Zoe became the first ever Oscar winner of Dominican descent  and made sure to thank her ancestors for paving the way to have a successful acting career in America.

Emilia Pérez has earned a tide of negative publicity after racist and Islamophobic tweets from her costar Karla Sofía Gascón — some quite recent — were discovered.

Netflix went so far as to stop covering Gascón’s travel for awards shows, but she did appear at the Oscars.

The award show started out in fine form as Kieran, 42, took home the first award of the night for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in A Real Pain.

He beat out an impressive field including: Yura Borisov — Anora, Edward Norton — A Complete Unknown, Guy Pearce — The Brutalist, and his Succession co-star Jeremy Strong — The Apprentice.

Blockbuster Wicked did not come away empty handed as Paul Tazewell became the first Black male winner of Achievement in Costume Design.
