Australian musician Gordi revealed the moment she made Coldplay frontman Chris Martin cry during an event at the Bakehouse Studios in Melbourne on Monday.
The singer-songwriter, 31, whose real name is Sophie Payten, said the pop-rock star, 47, was brought to tears when he heard her new single Lunch at Dune.
Gordi took to Instagram the morning after the event to detail the shocking moment, revealing the Fix You hitmaker ‘said songs like that deserve to be heard’.
‘I started playing the song, and this moment in the second verse, I’m like, “What the actual f**k is going on? I’m with Chris Martin, pull yourself together,”‘ Gordi said.
‘I close my eyes, I lean into the emotion of the song. Next thing I know, the song’s over, I open my eyes, look up at Chris Martin, and he’s crying, tears coming out of his eyes.
‘He said really nice things about the song. He told me it was beautiful, he said songs like that deserve to be heard.
‘It was just the most insane, beautiful moment of my life. And I can’t believe that no one got it on camera.’
The artist, who also works as a doctor, was invited to a secret gathering with several local artists to meet Chris this week.

Pop singer-songwriter Kian and indie rockers Radio Free Alice were among those invited, with Gordi receiving a special call-out from Chris.
‘Apparently when Chris Martin goes to other countries, he likes to meet local artists. Truly an amazing man; who could be arsed doing that when they’re on tour,’ Gordi revealed.
She went on to say Chris asked the musicians he invited if ‘there’s an artist in the room named Gordi’, prompting her to put her hand up.
‘He said, “I’ve listened to your music. It’s really beautiful.” I said, “Thank you Chris Martin,”‘ Gordi detailed.

Chris then invited Gordi to play something on the piano with him, which is when she performed her tear-jerking new single which she recorded with Irish artist SOAK.
‘At this point, I’m thinking, “I really wish I hadn’t just eaten four giant lamb chops,”‘ Gordi joked.
