Aussie Trans Model Riley Minford’s Global Debut in Tiny Bikini at Miami Swim Week

Aussie transgender model Riley Minford, 28, made her global debut on the runway on Sunday as she strutted her stuff at Miami Swim Week.

The Sydney-based beauty walked in the Oh Polly show – a moment that she called a dream come true.

Riley showed off her slender figure, insane abs and long trim pins as she took to the runway in a number of skimpy swimmers, including a red cut-out one piece and a barely there white bikini.

Speaking to Daily Telegraph’s Sydney Confidential, Riley admitted she was nervous when it came to gracing the runway, but that didn’t stop her from doing what she does best.

‘I was absolutely terrified but I got on that runway and ate it up,’ she told the publication.

From strutting around in her mum’s shoes when she was a little boy, to walking one of the most iconic modelling gigs in the world, Riley said she was ‘grateful’ for the milestone moment and acceptance she’d received on the modelling stage.

And she couldn’t have been more proud to represent her country.

‘It felt so special being flown across the world to walk and I hope I did my duty,’ she said.

Riley’s big debut comes at a time where fashion runways have become more inclusive.

Last year, The Victoria’s Secret fashion show made major headlines after featuring the likes of Valentina Sampaio and Alex Consani, making them the first transgender women to appear in the iconic event.

Alex made her debut in a pair of large silk Angel wings and a matching blue sequin underwear set.

Backstage, the 21-year-old told Paper magazine: ‘I’m so excited. This is my first-ever Victoria’s Secret show, I can’t believe it. I can’t believe I’m here.’

The 27-year-old was the brand’s first transgender model and they initially hired her to star in their new VS Pink campaign after Razek left in 2019.

Speaking to People, she said that becoming Victoria’s Secret’s first trans model is something she will ‘cherish for a lifetime’.

‘Today, the Victoria’s Secret family has shown the world that being trans is just as exceptional and beautiful as anyone else on that runway,’ she said.

‘Inclusivity is crucial to the world we’re building, and I’m honoured to walk with pride, love and the hope of inspiring the next generation.’
