Aussie Rock Legend’s Shocking New Look at ARIA Awards!

An Aussie rock legend stunned viewers on Wednesday night when he looked completely unrecognisable during a video cameo at the ARIA Awards.

Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns appeared via a pre-recorded clip to induct You Am I into the Hall of Fame, with fans doing a double take.

The musician, 46, hid his face behind large black sunglasses and a fedora hat as appeared to be visibly shaking as he gave a short and quiet introduction.

Johns said during his induction that there would be ‘no Silverchair without Berlin Chair’, referencing the You Am I breakthrough song of the ’90s.

‘This motherf***ing rock and roll band changed everything for me, and I know they changed everything for a lot of people,’ Johns added.

It comes after Silverchair fans’ hopes of a reunion were given a boost last month following an exchange between bandmates on social media.

Frontman Johns took to Instagram recently to promote his semi-autobiographical featurette What If The Future Never Happened.

Johns shared two photos that showed him with actor Rasmus King, who plays Johns in the short.

The singer is hitting the road to screen the short, alongside an hour-long conversation focusing on his long and storied career.

‘What If The Future Never Happened? is like a VHS copy of a copy of your childhood rioting in your mind,’ Daniel captioned the images.

‘It’s both honesty and fantasy at the same time and it’s up to the audience to determine where the lines are drawn. Newcastle and Brisbane sold-out, final tix available for Sydney and Melbourne in bio.’

The post was met with a flurry of comments from fans and followers, not least from former Silverchair bandmate Ben Gillies.

The drummer commented on the post, revealing that Johns had treated Gillies to a preview screening of the film.

‘Hi Dan. Thanks for the preview screening. Really enjoyed it. Wishing you all the best with the shows,’ Gillies commented.

The post came as quite a surprise for Silverchair fans, with Johns, Gillies and bass player Chris Joannou famously falling out after their 2011 breakup.

Gillies’ comment was met with thousands of likes and hopes that the iconic indie rock trio could reunite on stage or in the studio.

‘That’s beautiful, man,’ one fan wrote.

‘Forget music, hope you guys can connect to grow old as mates having a laugh about it all. Friendship is everything. Life is only once. Long live the “tentacle”.’

A second chimed in with a hopeful: ‘So lovely to see you in this comment section. My heart is happy now.’

A third added: ‘@bengillies888 love this!! I’m sure you realise the gravity, or how meaningful this is to fans.’
