Aussie rock icons Hoodoo Gurus have paid tribute to Australian music industry stalwart Dominic ‘Mick’ Mazzone who died after battling an illness.
The ARIA Hall of Fame recipients took to Facebook on Thursday to share a heartfelt tribute to Mick, remembering the industry veteran as a ‘dear friend’.
‘We in the Hoodoo Gurus are utterly devastated at the sudden loss of our dear friend, Mick (Dominic) Mazzone,’ they wrote in a statement.
‘It is impossible to convey the shock and grief we are feeling right now. We have already shed many tears, and there will be many more to come.
‘Our loss is nothing compared to the one that has been dealt to Mick’s close family and friends and, in particular, to his beloved kids, Frank, Antonia and Alex.
‘Our hearts go out to them at this dreadful time. Love, Brad, Dave, Rick & Nik.’

The post was met with an outpouring of condolences from fans and followers.
‘Mick seemed to have made an impact on so many lives. Grateful his legacy will live on,’ one offered.
Another commented: ‘My heart goes out to all of you and Mick’s family and friends. I’m so sorry for your loss.’
Cutting his teeth playing in local bands in Adelaide, Mazzone later relocated to Sydney where he established the artist management company M Management and record label M records.
The music industry ‘all rounder’ also built up a reputation as a technical director, producer, tour manager and sound engineer.
He worked with some of the greats of the Australian game including Hoodoo Gurus, Cold Chisel guitarist Ian moss and pub rock legends The Radiators.
He also worked with such global heavyweights as Bon Jovi, Madonna and R.E.M as well as serving as a founding member of the Music manager’s Forum.
Mick, who was also a trustee of music industry charity the Golden Stave Foundation was awarded an Order Of Australia in 2019.

Pub rock icons The Radiators also paid tribute to their former manager, admitting that news of his death had come as a shock.
‘Last night we heard of the passing of one of our great friends , Mick Mazzone. We only recently had found out of his illness , and we had hoped that Mick would fight the good fight.. and somehow…miraculously recover,’ the band wrote.
‘He unfortunately faded fast , and his passing came as a horrible shock.’
The band also remembered Mick as someone with an ‘incredible ear’ who worked wonders with the band’s career.
‘His management helped lift us up, and without his strong ,sure and steady hand, we as a band ,may not have been able to navigate the ’90’s.
He worked with the likes of Cold Chisel guitarist Ian Moss and pub rock legends The Radiators. and global heavyweights as Bon Jovi, Madonna and R.E.M
Mick had a fantastic ear , and was instrumental in producing and overseeing the release of our Black and White ( Radiators self titled) Album, Hard Core, Stone and many various singles . All under the banner of MM Records.
They continued: ‘He will be sadly missed by so many people in the industry. He was an incredible human . A quiet genius. Gone way way too soon.
‘The world is a poorer place today, for the loss of one Mick Mazzone.’
The tributes didn’t end there, with lauded music journalist Stuart Cope remembering Mick as a ‘good human.’
This is very very sad. I didn’t know Mick super well but used to be around him or in his orbit a fair bit in years gone by,’ Stuart wrote.
‘I remember him as an always smiling, friendly, highly competent and very good human who I enjoyed running into.’
