A pair of Australian TikTok stars have sparked outrage after filming themselves climbing a historic Jacobite site in Scotland.

In August, elite endurance athletes Stefan and Lachlan Lamble embarked on a long-distance run across the length of the UK as part of a stunt to raise £250,000 (AU$510,345) for Cancer Research UK.

The Melbourne-born siblings, known for their mullet hairstyles and Union Jack shorts, aimed to complete the trip in under 31 days – the equivalent of 36 full marathons.

However, the brothers (known by fans as the Lambros) courted controversy just days into their trip when they uploaded a video of themselves climbing the ruins of Ruthven Barracks.

The site is one of four garrisons built by the British government after the first Jacobite rebellion of 1715.

In the now-deleted video, Stefan and Lachlan can be seen throwing rocks and running on top of the barracks walls.

Online users promptly slammed the video on Reddit, with one commenting: ‘[I don’t care] what they are raising money for. How does anyone see a historic monument anywhere and go, “Yeah I’ll mess with that?”‘

One user branded the brothers a ‘pair of imbeciles’, as an Australian user added: ‘As a fellow Aussie I definitely DO NOT condone this type of behaviour. Absolutely disgusting.’

‘I like their cause, but if they could just leave our sites alone, that’d be nice’, yet another user wrote.

Following the incident, an investigation was launched by Historic Environment Scotland (HES), who told The National: ‘While we appreciate their wider fundraising activity is for a good cause, our historic sites should be treated respectfully and engaged with safely.

‘This is to avoid irreparable damage to the sites themselves, whether deliberate or accidental, and to avoid endangering the safety and enjoyment of others.’

The investigation ended early last month, with HES telling the publication that they had found no visible damage.

‘In this instance the team have visited the site and the incident does not appear to have resulted in any physical damage to the monument,’ they said.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to the Lamble brothers in relation to this story.
