If you have attended any of Drake’s Melbourne or Sydney shows, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were at a telethon rather than a rap concert.
The Canadian hitmaker, 38, is currently in the middle of the Australian leg of his Anita Max Win tour and has not been afraid to flash the cash to some lucky fans.
But it appears that Aussie fans are more interested iin the contents of Drake’s wallet than his hefty swag of hits.
X account Complex Music shared an image taken at one of Drake’s Sydney shows on stage behind the rapper.
The crowd were seen to be holding up an array of signs, but rather than being exclamations of the God’s Plan hitmaker’s talent, they were shamelessly begging for cash.
One sign plead with Drake to help pay the holder’s mother’s mortgage, while another was asking for help with a vet bill.

‘Need money for my bachelorette party in Ibiza,’ another sign read, while another begged: ‘Help me buy an engagement ring.’
The image drew a flurry of comments from fans around the world, with many slamming Aussie concert-goers for their cash-grab tactics.
‘Do they like his music or are they all just there begging for money,’ one fan asked.
Another chimed in with: ‘All signs asking for money and none talking abt how his music changed their lives?? He deserves better fans like?
‘God this is embarrassing,’ another shared while another claimed the image gave off a distinct ‘dystopian’ vibe.
‘Drake aside (literally replace him with any celeb), this is one of the most genuinely dystopian photographs I’ve seen in recent months.’
Yet another jumped in with: ‘They’re all desperate for money but they paid front row tickets to see Drake? Yeah right.’
To be fair to the hopeful fans, they are not without cause to hope they could walk away from a Drake show a little bit richer.

The One Dance hitmaker, 38, spotted pregnant concertgoer Tiana Henderson in the crowd at his Sydney concert at Qudos Bank Arena on Wednesday night.
He told her to get out of the mosh pit, before gifting her with VIP seats and $30,000.
Also at his Sunday night Sydney show, Drake surprised a couple, who got engaged at the show to a honeymoon and $25,000.
He asked for the moment to be put on the concert screens so the entire stadium could see the young man propose to his girlfriend.
If that wasn’t enough, he also donated $30,000 to one lucky Sydney fan who was keen to quit their job at McDonalds.
TikTok account Finessers took to the platform on Tuesday to share a short clip of Drake on stage at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena.
The clip showed Drake, clad in a blue tracksuit, pointing out a sign he noticed in the crowd.
‘I like the style of my man right here,’ Drake said pointing to a sign that read: ‘Help us quit Maccas,’ referring to the iconic fast food outlet McDonald’s.

Drake rounds out the Sydney leg of his run on Thursday before heading to Brisbane for three shows. He will then return to Sydney on March 7 for the final show at Qudos Bank Arena
‘In Australia, I’ve been noticing they call McDonald’s “Maccas”, right?’ he asked
The superstar then adopted his best Australian accent as he continued to address the hopeful fan.
‘He’s got the sign, mate, saying, “Help us quit Maccas” mate,’ he said in an Antipodean drawl that drew a rapturous reaction from the crowd.
‘I’m keen on that, mate. I’m keen to help you quit Maccas, mate,’ Drake continued.
However, rather than offering words of encouragement, the rapper put his money where his mouth is.
‘I’m going to give you 30 bands tonight so you can [quit Maccas],’ he said before adding a cheeky, ‘Easy as, mate.’
