Aussie comedy trio lash out at  Victorian Premier after second brazen robbery at their Melbourne properties in just three weeks: ‘Everyone feels unsafe’

Australian comedy troupe Sooshi Mango have expressed their anger at Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan and called for harsher penalties after a second brazen robbery at one of their Melbourne properties in just three weeks.

The trio told 7NEWS on Monday that they ‘don’t feel safe’ after a break-in at their Carlton office at around 7pm on Sunday evening saw an unidentified man smash a glass door to gain entry – before making off empty-handed.

Dramatic CCTV video of the robbery was shared to the group’s official Instagram page in addition to being aired on 7NEWS.

‘I think with what’s going on at the moment, especially with all the home invasions and so forth, everyone’s feeling a little bit unsafe,’ troupe member Joe Salanitri said in an interview with the network on Monday.

He suggested that Premier Allan needed to, ‘bring some stronger penalties down. You know, [to] scare these people who are scaring the community.’

Joe’s brother and co-star Carlo Salanitri agreed, adding: ‘Maybe if they knew that there was a harsher penalty at stake, that would deter them from doing this kind of stuff.’

The brothers’ longtime friend and co-star Andrew Manfre said the trio were left ‘disturbed’ by the ‘brazen daytime robbery’ but relieved that the culprit was unable to locate any valuables.

‘We’re Italians. We don’t hide our cash anywhere that’s obvious,’ he joked.

The comedy group, who boast three million Instagram followers and are well known for their viral videos, posted the clip to social media on Sunday with the hopes of identifying the man who broke into their office.

‘Tonight just before 7pm we had a scum rat farkena piece of shiiet bastard break into our office,’ they explained in their lengthy caption.

‘He didn’t end up stealing anything because he couldn’t find anything of value… He damaged the door which we are getting fixed and no real drama but this dirty farkena piece of gutter trash tried to rob the wrong place because now we are putting this out so everyone can share it.’

They continued: ‘These rats think they can go around stealing from hard-working honest people and get away with it. If we can stop him from taking advantage of just one other honest business then we have done our job.

‘Perhaps if Victoria had stricter laws these filthy rotten leeches wouldn’t have the confidence to go around breaking into places in broad daylight.’

Salanitri also lashed out at the government for failing to tackle the cost of living crisis after a woman stole his Coles delivery just over three weeks ago in December.

The comedian shared a video showing the woman taking two bags from his front door in Melbourne.

Although he initially responded to the theft with anger, Salanitri believed the woman was likely struggling with a larger issue.

‘I’m not upset at the woman, right, it’s obviously the system,’ he said.

‘She’s probably got kids. She might have followed the guy from Coles.

‘In the bag was candy canes and cards, so maybe she got them for her kids.’

Instead, Salanitri placed the blame on the ongoing cost of living crisis.

‘It’s sad that this is where we’re at, and it’s not her fault,’ he said.

‘It goes all the way back to the system and the government. I hate saying this but that’s where it’s at.

‘She’s obviously struggling. She probably can’t give her (kids) gifts and has to go to this level.’

Salanitri’s video coincided with a warning from Australia Post to be on the lookout for ‘porch pirates’ because parcel theft is on the rise heading into Christmas.
