Quinton Aarons Hospitalization Sparks Sinister Family Feud

He is the beloved actor from The Blind Side who was left on life support after suffering a devastating spinal stroke and catastrophic fall at his home last month.

Fans prayed for his recovery, his costar Sandra Bullock thought he might die and the woman we all believed to be his wife helped to set up a GoFundMe page in a desperate bid to help raise funds for his mounting medical bills.

Only now, with Quinton Aaron thankfully on the mend, the story has taken a series of wild twists.  

For the Daily Mail can exclusively reveal a feud has erupted between Quinton's family and his 'wife' Margarita, 50, with allegations of a sham marriage and detectives investigating the circumstances around his hospitalization.

His family is said to be concerned by a number of ‘red flags’ and fear Margarita could get her hands on the $48,000 raised through his GoFundMe page, which was set up on January 24, a day after his stroke, by the organization Veterans Aid Network.

Margarita denied she was after the money. We are told both she and Quinton's family are in agreement that it will only be spent to cover a viable hospital bill.

Now, a family feud has erupted between Aaron's family and his wife Margarita with allegations of a sham marriage and detectives looking into the circumstances around his hospitalization, the Daily Mail can exclusively reveal

Quinton, 41, who starred with Bullock in the 2009 sports drama, had been walking up a flight of stairs in his apartment in Atlanta when he suddenly lost the ability to control his legs, causing him to collapse.

Cobb County Police Department and the detective on the case confirmed to the Daily Mail that there is an active investigation into the circumstances around his fall.

'We have reviewed the incident,' a PIO (Public Information Officer) told the Daily Mail in a statement. 'It is currently classified as suspicious activity and has been assigned to a detective for further investigation. As this is an active investigation, we are unable to provide any additional information at this time.'

In a police report obtained by the Daily Mail, cops stated that they spoke to Quinton's brother Jarred Aaron, 38, at his apartment on January 31 following concerns of 'suspicious activity'.

Margarita has told the Daily Mail she is aware of the investigation and has talked to detectives to share her side of the story.

But a family insider claimed there are conflicting stories from eyewitnesses about the circumstances around Quinton’s hospitalization, which has left some family members suspicious of Margarita.

For example, she alleged she was at the hospital for 'seven days by myself' - except for Jarred and also Quinton's uncle visiting 'twice'. But the family insider alleged Margarita 'has kept the family from visiting' after she ‘claimed to be his wife and stated to the medical staff that they're not welcome to see her husband.’

Such suspicions prompted the family to investigate Margarita's background, in particular the legitimacy of her marriage to Quinton.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the professional make-up artist said she connected with Quinton on TikTok in August 2023. They continued to message each other and, according to her, finally met for the first time in June 2024. 

She claims they got 'married' six months later in December. But the family insider has claimed they found documentation that it was a 'spiritual wedding' rather than a legally binding one. Margarita was tight-lipped about the details when asked, simply adding that they tied the knot in a 'special place'. 

When asked if she is his wife, she said Quinton refers to her as his 'partner in crime' and 'his forever'. 

She claimed Jarred was in attendance at the wedding, but out insider insisted no family members were at the 'very last minute' ceremony. Jarred also told the Daily Mail: 'I wasn't [there] because there was never any wedding and Margarita knows that.' 

A spiritual wedding is usually held outside of religious or civil rules. A separate civil ceremony may be needed for legal recognition.

A letter from the family's lawyer, seen by the Daily Mail, confirmed 'there is no information that a marriage certificate between Quinton and [Margarita] has been filed.' 

If that wasn't confusing enough, questions were raised earlier this week when Quinton’s cousin Asia, 29, alleged that Margarita has been married to another man 'for 34 years.'

Margarita appeared to confirm the claims, telling the Daily Mail: ‘We're fixing the paperwork because it should've been done almost three years ago.’

Declining to disclose the name of her husband, she continued: 'The truth is when I came to Quinton, he knew my past and my background. He knew what was going on and we were working through it. And I figured after being gone [from her ex] over a year-and-a-half, things were settled and I could just move on with my life. And his brother Jarred knew because Quinton expressed to him, “This is the partner that I want to be with."' 

She insisted that 'there was nothing I kept a secret from [Quinton].'

'The whole thing about this love story that we have is I've listened to this man cry, I've listened to this man say, "How do you really accept me for me?" And I say, "Because you're beautiful." And he was like, "Nobody's ever said that to me even with the weight that I am,"' she said, referring to him as a 'big teddy bear.'

Margarita claims that she helped Quinton, who was diagnosed with diabetes in 2021 and suffered heart failure in 2020, to overhaul his health by monitoring his glucose levels and preparing home cooked meals, and daily walks. By October 2025, the actor, who once weighed 575 pounds, had dropped a whopping 200 pounds.

She said they would often take trips to visit 'different medical places' that specialize in treatments for 'different parts of his condition.'

According to Margarita, Quinton had been 'in and out of hospitals by himself' before her met her. Recalling one early conversation she said: 'I said, "Well, where's your brother?" And he was like, "Nobody comes for me. I've asked my brother several times."'

She claimed: 'I've been to so many hospital appointments and visits with him, and this is the first time that the family [showed up]. I've been every step of the way with him. What's concerning is this is the first time his family's ever quote-unquote stepped up and stuck out because of a GoFundMe.

'And that's the sad part about it because had there not been a GoFundMe, his family wouldn't be fighting this hard.' 

A GoFundMe page was created by the Veterans Aid Network, after Margarita reached out. The fundraiser has now raised $48,000

Margarita insisted to the Daily Mail that 'there was nothing I kept a secret from [Quinton]' and says that she's referred to by Quinton as his 'partner in crime' and 'his forever'

'He had a serious condition back in October. Did you see that all over the news media outlet? Not at all. I have never publicized Quinton's information out there.'

She continued: 'His family all lives in the vicinity of this area - a 15-minute radius. We were here for six months. How many times has his family visited him? Not one time.'

However, she said she has heard from his celebrity pals, including Walter Emanuel Jones and Michael Beach - his co-stars from War Dawgz - and Dean Cain, who he starred alongside in The Appearing. They have all been 'very concerned' about his health.

Of his friendship with Bullock, she said: 'He talks about her. He sticks up for her. I personally haven't talked to her. I know he emails her time to time.'

The biggest family tension appears to be between Margarita and Jarred, who she claims lived with her and Quinton for nine months in an Airbnb that was rented in her name. In that time Margarita and Jarred allegedly had 'fights' and verbal altercations, with Quinton reportedly telling his brother he needed to move out.

'The brother will be homeless in a few days,' she alleged.

Jarred did not provide additional comment to the Daily Mail at this time. 

Quinton is said to be 'getting better,' according to our insider, and the family has witnessed 'eye movements' after hearing their voices.

Margarita said that once he is conscious enough, the family drama 'is really going to hurt him.'

'Quinton's always wanted to find that "one", and I was that "one" because everything that he needed help [with], everything that the family wouldn't do for him, I did for him,' she said.

'The sad part about it is this is the first time I've ever let his family come in as close with his medical because he's always said, "Please protect me." He's always had that fear. And he would just ask them about certain medications or certain family histories.

'And now that his family has taken over and has basically pushed me out, I'm not there to be able to help support Quinton now. They basically took his main one support system that he needed away from.'
