Wendy Williams' father Thomas Williams has died at age 94.

The 61-year-old media personality's niece Alex Finnie announced the sad news in an Instagram post on Sunday.
She uploaded a montage of family videos and shared, 'It is with an extremely heavy heart that I share — after 94 years of extraordinary love, strength, brilliance, and wisdom, my grandfather Thomas D. Williams has passed.'
The clip was soundtracked by the Stevie Wonder song As, and she used a lyric in the caption: 'I’ll be loving you always ❤️.'
Finnie said elsewhere in the note, 'I know he is in heaven with Nana, watching over our family and continuing to guide us as he always has.'
The mourning granddaughter remembered her grandfather as 'a man of great intellect — an author, educator and keeper of historical facts.'

It was added, 'Papa poured into both family and community. I miss him tremendously. I’m a little lost for words right now, but I love you endlessly Papa. Give Nana a kiss for me ❤️.'
Wendy's dad's death comes after her mom Shirley Williams passed away in 2020 at age 85.
The former radio host confirmed the news on her eponymous talk show at the time, sharing that her mom died 'beautifully and peacefully.'

She was appointed a court-ordered guardian in 2022 after she was allegedly diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia.
But in November 2025 a doctor determined that the star does not actually have frontotemporal dementia – a development that has strengthened resolve that the conservatorship could be terminated.
Her lawyer Joe Tacopina said in December that the end of the guardianship could be near.
'The plan is this: there are guardianship attorneys and we're watching and waiting, and they've assured Wendy, by year's end she'll be out of guardianship,' he said on Nightline at the time.
Tacopina insisted his client does not have FTP, but believes any memory problems she may have can be attributed to alleged alcohol abuse.

Her care team revealed the diagnosis in February 2024, but Wendy fought back, denying the accuracy of the prognosis.
In February 2025 she was granted permission to leave her assisted living facility in New York City to reunite with her dad alongside son Kevin, 25.
Kevin took to Instagram at the time to share: 'Happy I could make this happen for you Papa.. I said by any means and I kept my word.'

Shortly after the reunion, Wendy shared an update on how she was doing at her $18k-a-month assisted living facility.
She appeared on NewsNation and said she did not want to be there.
'I don't have the freedom to do virtually anything,' she said. 'As far as where I am, I'm on the fifth floor. They call it the "memory unit," so it's for people who don't remember anything. I've met the people who live here and I've been here for almost a year now, and this is very suffocating.'
