Ariana Grande got some playful ribbing from fans on Wednesday after she appeared in a new teaser for her upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live.
The 31-year-old singer and actress is set to host the iconic sketch comedy series amid an aggressive publicity campaign for her upcoming film adaptation of the hit musical Wicked.
But in the humorous video, Ariana informed several of SNL’s male cast members that she wasn’t interested in any kind of Wicked or Wizard Of Oz tie-in sketches — even though she has been heavily promoting Wicked, which is based on characters from L. Frank Baum’s original Oz books.
Ariana was dressed in a tasteful pink tweed button-up mini dress and white pumps and sporting her dyed-blond hai tied back in a pony tail as she gave the bad news to cast members Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, Marcello Hernández and Andrew Dismukes.
Michael, who got a laugh out of several social media commenters with his Dorothy costume, was joined by Devon in a Cowardly Lion suit, Marcello in a straw-covered outfit and makeup as the Scarecrow and Andrew in a low-rent silvery costume as the Tin Woodman.

‘Guys, I’m so excited to be hosting this week, but before we star, I just want to say, I would really prefer not to do anything Wicked or Wizard Of Oz related,’ Ariana says at the start of the teaser.
Then the camera cuts to show the four comedians all awkwardly dressed in Wizard Of Oz costumes and now sporting shocked or embarrassed faces.
‘Mmhmm,’ Andrew murmurs as he purses his lips, before repeating the utterance while tenting his silver-gloved fingers.
‘May we come back in one hour?’ he says tentatively, and Ariana responds with a hilariously deadpan ‘Sure.’
Then the four guys try to leave the office as nonchalantly as possible, though they need help getting up thanks to their costumes.
Numerous fans gushed about their excitement at seeing an Ariana-hosted episode — particularly with musical guest Stevie Nicks in the mix — but several fans joked about how unusual it was for Ariana not to do a Wicked or Wizard Of Oz sketch after promoting the movie tirelessly in recent months.
‘Said Ariana Grande NEVER,’ wrote one person on Instagram.
‘She’s unserious. I know that she obsessed with wicked,’ added another person.
‘THIS IS SO UNSERIOUS LMAO LOVE HER SM,’ gushed a fan, while another added that she was ‘unserious.’
One person even wrote that they were ‘sad’ about the news, as it didn’t seem to be clear to everyone that Ariana was likely joking about not doing a Wicked or Wizard Of Oz sketch.
