Jeff Goldblum (the wizard) also made an appearance in the teaser as he addressed Dorothy as well as the Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow.
‘Bring me the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West!’ he exclaimed at one point as the teaser came to an end.
It concluded with Elphaba grabbing both her hat and broomstick and then said, ‘I’m off to see the wizard!’

The movie was a box office success and raked in around $747.2 million on a budget of $150 million.
Wicked also received critical praise and was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won two last month in March during the glitzy ceremony.
During their appearance at 2025 CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Ariana and Cynthia both stepped out onto the stage wearing black ensembles – possibly hinting at the darker tone of Wicked 2.
Grande donned a strapless, black minidress that had a velvet bodice and layered skirt that stopped a few inches above her knees.
The former Nickelodeon star slipped into a pair of nude-colored nylons as well as closed-toed, black pumps.
Her locks were pulled back into a sleek bun and she accessorized the look with a sparkling, silver necklace.
Cynthia opted for a pair of loose-fitting black trousers as well as a shirt that was made of the same material. A hood was placed over her head and the performer also wore a pair of black heels.
The stars joined director Jon M. Chu who told the audience, per Variety, ‘This movie takes us past the point where the girl in the blue gingham dress from Kansas drops in.’

The filmmaker was referencing to the character of Dorothy from The Wizard Of Oz.
Grande also expressed, ‘It’s been quite a year since we joined you here last time, and we cannot thank you enough for all of your support,’ with Cynthia sharing, ‘And we get to do it all again.’
The stars also poked fun at last year’s promotional tour which saw the pair getting emotional in a number of interviews.
Erivo told the crowd that there will be ‘less waterworks this time, but I am not sure we can live up to that.’ Ariana humorously added that she already packed tissues.
Marc Platt also reflected on the Wicked musical and said, ‘You should know, Wicked in its 22nd year on Broadway, is having its best year and highest grosses ever.’
Late last year, Chu teased what viewers can expect with the sequel and told Entertainment Weekly, ‘If Part 1 is about choices, Part 2 is about consequences.
‘Choices are difficult to make, but when you do make those choices, sometimes the result isn’t what you expect it to be. It can be lonely, it can be hard.’
He also added, ‘There’s a lot of soul searching in movie 2. They’re asking, “Is this the right decision that you made?”‘

The director later talked about the darker tone of the upcoming film, but shared that there will also be lighter elements.
‘There is lots of lightness in the movie. There’s a lot of fun parts. We’ve not forgotten about that, but there’s a matureness and a nuance to it that we earn from the first movie. The second movie really gets to play with [that maturity].’

She explained that the characters are ‘not in school anymore; they’ve stepped into their careers and stepped into their choices.’
