They are rarely spotted away from each other’s sides, as their career as a TV double act continues to go from strength to strength.
But it turns out new AI system Grok, generated by X, was having none of it, succeeding only in recognising Ant McPartlin and blanking completely when it came to Declan Donnelly.
Playing around with the technology in an Instagram video on Wednesday, the duo quickly realised that one was more popular with the system than the other.
Looking intently at his computer, Ant, 49, began by saying: ‘Dec you know X has got this new AI? And you know that I love a bit of AI.’
Dec, 49, joked: ‘Why aye.’
Ant continued: ‘Why aye. Every time I put you into Grok it doesn’t…well watch, just watch what happens…Let’s just start with “Ant and Dec”…’

After typing ‘Ant and Dec’ into the search bar, the former said: ‘Do you see the problem here? Who’s he? And who’s he? Who’s he?’
To the presenter’s amazement, the AI spat out a host of pictures of Ant with another random person, not ressembling his co-host, 49, in the slightest.
‘Do you see the problem here?’ Ant said. ‘Who’s he? And who’s he? Who’s he?’
‘OK “Ant and Dec eating cheese”…oh there you go, there’s me. There’s me eating cheese on my own. The second one…’
‘Is you and Jeff Stelling,’ Dec butted in.
Ant added: ‘The third one is me and me. And the fourth one is me and what looks like a Sunday League football player – doesn’t look like you…”Ant and Dec skiing”… this should be simple. Again there’s me and me; me and a rando…’
‘Prince William,’ Dec said.
Ant continued: ‘Me and me in shades; and me and a girl. What the hell?’
Dec fumed: ‘I’m flabbergasted and I’m shocked and appalled.’
Dec seemed to enjoy the experiment a good deal less than his co-presenter

The pair finally typed in ‘Dec and a sausage roll’ to give the system one more chance at working out who Ant’s sidekick was.
Dec observed: ‘It’s just a sausage roll, for goodness sake.’
‘But it looks like a very tasty sausage roll though!’ Ant joked.
It is not the pair’s first encounter with AI as the duo tried to get to grips with the AI in 2023 by generating a series of hilarious computer-generated images.
The pair transformed into a pair of leotard-clad figure skaters in one snap complete with bright blue hair and black bow ties.
In another photo, they were faced with animals climbing on their heads while surrounded by pigs and goats.
The TV duo also took some inspiration from their I’m A Celebrity hosting duties as they posed before a jungle backdrop while clad in hiking gear.
The pair then transformed into tennis players as they posed before a fake court complete with rackets and polo shirts.

In the final snap, the pals were clad in matching black tops and white trousers while posing on a golf course.
Alongside the post, shared to their joint Instagram account, they wrote: ‘August’s been pretty AI-dyllic so far’.

Elsewhere, Ant and his wife Anne-Marie looked every inch the loving couple as they frolicked in the sea during a winter getaway to Barbados last month.
The couple were seen larking around in the water in front of the five-star Fairmont Royal Pavilion hotel on the western coast of the Caribbean island, with Ant barely able to keep his hands off his wife.
Footage of the couple, taken by another hotel guest, showed them struggling to stand as waves broke against them.
Struggling to contain their laughter, Ant and Anne-Marie, 46, could be seen holding hands as they tried to stay upright in the water.
