Ansel Elgort took to Instagram on Tuesday to confirm that he has welcomed his first child, a son.

The West Side Story actor did not mention a romantic partner or make reference to the mother of his child in his posts.
It comes nearly one month after the 31-year-old actor was spotted holding the newborn in a carrier while out in New York City.
Elgort first debuted a new song called Canopy (in the kitchen), which he beautifully sang to his baby while strumming an acoustic guitar.
A second post featured a striking, up-close black and white image of the father and son, which the actor said he printed himself.

He added a heartfelt caption, formally announcing that he's become a parent: 'Fatherhood is exhilarating, exhausting, it’s everything and more. The present feels more present and the future brighter.
'He wakes us up all night and yet I’ve never felt stronger during the day. He goes from crying to laughing, expressing everything he feels and it’s freed me to do the same.'

The sentimental note continued, 'I wanted to keep it sacred, just for us, but now I want to share this story with you as it’s the brightest happiest thing I’ve ever experienced. I hope it brings you happiness too.'

Elgort signed off, 'So much love, Ansel.'
He initially uploaded a video serenading his son, who was just slightly visible while resting in a cradle set on the floor in front of him.
While the new dad did not formally announce or promote the song, it has been released as a single and is available on digital streaming platforms.
He didn't announce his son's name in the caption, but at the end of his previous video, he repeated the phrase, 'Good morning, Neo,' while cooing at his son.
His The Fault in Our Stars co-star Shailene Woodley dropped a heart eye emoji in the comments.

And Elgort replied, 'He was smiling so big once I started saying Good morning,' adding teary eyed and melting emojis.
His older sister, Sophie Elgort, 40, added a comment that said she 'listened on repeat this morning with the kids!'

Elgort is known for starring in Steven Spielberg's 2021 West Side Story remake. He also appeared in 2017's Baby Driver from director Edgar Wright.
Several of his 7.6 million Instagram followers referenced the film in the comments of his baby announcement.
'My baby driver has now a baby,' wrote one fan while another similarly added, 'Baby Driver made a mini-baby driver. congrats, Ansel!'
His acting credits also include the HBO Max series Tokyo Vice.
Last November Elgort took the stage in Pete Townshend’s rock ballet Quadrophenia, in the role of The Godfather.
