Angelina Kendall: From Wagga Wagga to Victoria’s Secret, the ‘Baby Gisele’ Model

Angelina Kendall may not be a household name just yet, but she’s walked for the likes of Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana and, now, Victoria’s Secret.

At just 20-years-old, the Australian beauty from Wagga Wagga turned heads on Wednesday as she made her debut at the annual lingerie show held in New York alongside Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski.

Dressed in a series of lacy undergarments and pink floral accessories, Angelina stunned as she showed off her long trim pins, slender physique and natural beauty.

However, despite already being dubbed by British Vogue as a ‘supermodel in waiting’, the Aussie native comes from humble beginnings.

Angelina was born in New South Wales to a Kiwi father and Brazilian mother, the UK magazine reports.

Growing up in Sydney’s Northern Beaches and the rural town of Wagga Wagga, she spent her time surfing and playing Oztag – and even aspired to become a doctor.

At just 20-years-old, the Australian beauty turned heads on Wednesday as she made her debut at the annual lingerie show held in New York

However, she swapped her seemingly normal life for the glitz and glam of fashion when she was scouted by agent Simone Hellicar, who found her Instagram profile during the pandemic, reports British Vogue.

Despite initially thinking the interaction was a scam, Angelina eventually met and signed with Simone’s agency The Scouted and she went on to book shows with some of the most renowned fashion houses in the world.

Now, Angelina is walking in the big leagues, with her tanned skin, blonde locks and slender figure earning her a comparison to a 2000s modelling icon.

She’s often called ‘Baby Gisele’ for her resemblance to Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen, who has also previously walked the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Speaking of this year’s lingerie showcase, Angelina isn’t the only Australian who took to the runway on Wednesday.

Adelaide-raised Adut Akech and Abény Nhial from Queensland also strutted their stuff on the VS catwalk in New York.

Adut turned up the heat as she wore an all-red dress covered in rhinestones and lace.

The stunning model pouted for the camera as she struck a pose, showing off her slender physique and enviable good looks.

As for Abény, she donned a white T-shirt with ‘very sexy’ written across the front, along with a pair of boxer-style shorts.

She completed the lingerie set with thigh-high stockings and sparkly silver bangles on her arms.

Wearing her locks in waves across her shoulders, the model looked breathtaking as she placed her hands on her hips for a photo.

For decades, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was one of the most coveted runway events in fashion.

It first kicked off in 1995 and immediately attracted immense buzz, with some of the biggest models on the globe walking in the fashion show.

By 2001 it was broadcast live on television, and each year, millions tuned in to watch the stunning models strut their stuff and the A-list performers dazzle on stage.

But in 2019, after more than two decades of it reigning supreme, the annual show was cancelled amid immense criticism over the brand’s lack of diversity when it comes to body types before then-chief marketing officer Ed Razek’s eyebrow-raising comments about trans and plus–sized models.

Last year, the Angels returned to the catwalk after a six-year hiatus with a more diverse roster including plus-size and transgender models.
