Andy Cohen Links Bravo Reunion to Weight Loss Medication Use

Andy Cohen has revealed the moment he decided to seriously trim down – and it involves a Bravo show.

The host has lost a ‘good chunk’ of weight with the help of a weight loss medication, and it all started after he saw himself moderating the season two reunion of The Valley.

During an appearance on Today’s Jenna & Friends, Andy, 57, described how that particular show prompted him to focus on getting his weight down.

‘If you watch The Valley reunion from last season… I do not look my best, let me say that, and it was after that that I was like, “I got to get this together.” But It was a great jump start, I feel great.’

Andy was struggling to fit into some of his clothes prior to his diet.

‘I couldn’t button my suits, it was bad,’ he said.

And seeing himself constantly on camera didn’t help matters: ‘We all notice ourselves, and especially when we’re on TV and we’re looking at a freaking monitor of ourselves everyday, terrible!’

In order to shed the pounds, Andy turned to Hollywood’s trend of weight loss medications – a ‘GLP whatever it’s called,’ he referred to it on Today.

‘I lost a good chunk of weight. I was microdosing a GLP whatever it’s called,’ he explained.

Now Andy is embracing a much healthier lifestyle, from his diet to his workout regimen.

‘But it was a great fitness journey for me as well, and I’m just being so much more deliberate about what I put in my mouth and how I workout, and I’m lifting heavier weights, and it’s been great,’ he said.

Being a father of two has also motivated Andy to continue staying fit.

‘I bet you’re staying healthy for those kids,’ host Jenna Bush Hager said.

‘I am,’ Andy, who has son Benjamin, six, and daughter Lucy, three, explained.

The results of all of Andy’s hard work were recently put on display in a snap of him posing shirtless on the beach.

‘When I posted that picture, everyone was like, “Uh dude, what are you doing?”‘ he said.

Andy revealed he had been using a weight loss drug on his SiriusXM show RadioAndy earlier this month.

The host said he had lost ‘a good chunk of weight’ over the summer ‘micro-dosing’ a GLP-1 medication, but did not say which.

‘I was really unhappy with my weight,’ the entertainment personality told his listeners.

‘My doctor and I talked about this last year, had recommended a GLP-1 a few times to not only address what I was feeling about my weight, but treat plaque in my arteries and high blood pressure.’

Although initially reluctant to do it, Andy said the drug was ‘actually is beneficial to a lot of elements of health and I finally said yes.’

GLP-1 medications helps manage blood sugar, reduce appetite and slow stomach emptying so the person taking it will feel fuller for a longer period of time.

For the media mogul, that helped him cut down snacking. ‘I have to say, it really helped me with cravings, which I was having a very hard time with,’ he explained.

‘I would have a drink, then there’s all these cookies. There’s craft services,’ he said of the food provided for workers on the set Watch What Happens Live. ‘It’s pasta night. It’s pizza night… my cravings for all that stuff dissipated.’

Using the medication forced him ‘to be more disciplined with my diet and with working out.’

His workout regimen included lifting ‘heavier weights’ during training sessions and watching what he put in his mouth.

‘No snacking or excess drinking. I am still drinking, but not crazy and perhaps the most importantly, I’m not snacking after the craving [I get] after I drink.’

Andy acknowledged how lucky he was to have access to medical care and insurance covered part of the cost. Without insurance drugs such as Ozempic or Wegovy can be as much as $1,200 a month.

‘This is a revolutionary drug,’ he said. ‘I’m so happy also to have been on this journey under the care of a doctor and working with a trainer to make sure that we have done this right.’

Andy quit using the medication after reaching his goal. ‘I will say, my appetite returned from the micro-dose, but I feel like it caused me to reframe my relationship with food because it was sh*tty before this.’

The Bravo star said it ‘would be completely hypocritical not to share,’ his weight loss secret since he has asked others about theirs so often, ‘and then be the guy who’s suddenly lost 25 lbs. but isn’t mentioning it.’
