Max announced Wednesday in a ‘one to watch’ teaser that audiences won’t get to see And Just Like That until 2025.
The cable network had previously renewed Michael Patrick King’s Sex and the City continuation – originally based on Candace Bushnell’s newspaper column and 1996 book anthology – for a third season back on August 22.
And while the first season was the service’s most-watched series debut to date, viewership was down for season two, which scored a 65% critic approval rating and a dismal 38% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans were most dazzled by the long-awaited return of London-set PR mogul Samantha Jones, and Kim Cattrall was reportedly paid an eye-popping $1M to reprise her role for the 70-second cameo in the finale.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis all earned $10M paychecks to executive produce and star as Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York Goldenblatt, and Miranda Hobbes in season one – according to Variety.

Less thrilling was the return of the newly-widowed podcaster’s passive-aggressive furniture-designing ex-fiancé Aidan Shaw (John Corbett), who informed her he needed a five-year break from her to focus on his troubled teenage son.
This, after Carrie sold her beloved West Village apartment to purchase a pricey four-bedroom, three-bathroom property near Gramercy Park that could fit Aidan and his three sons when they visit from Virginia.
Season two also saw newly-sober Miranda go back to work and navigate her post-breakup relationship with the dreaded Che (Sara Ramirez) and Charlotte leave some of her domestic duties in order to got back to work at a gallery.
Fans can expect season three to include Sarita Choudhury, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, Cathy Ang, Niall Cunningham, Chris Jackson, Nicole Ari Parker, Alexa Swinton, and Karen Pittman.
The 2025 production delay is mostly due to the WGA and SAG/AFTRA strikes, which finally concluded on September 27 and November 9, respectively, but the AJLT writers room got back to work in early November – according to Deadline.
Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick will be busy bringing their $26.4M-grossing Broadway revival of Neil Simon comedy Plaza Suite to the West End from January 17-March 31 at London’s Savoy Theatre.
And Cynthia Nixon will be busy starring in The New Group’s world premiere of Jordan Seavey’s off-Broadway play The Seven Year Disappear, which opens February 6 at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre in Manhattan.
‘It’s really funny because it’s called The Seven Year Disappear, but I actually haven’t been on stage in seven years, which is just a weird coincidence,’ the 57-year-old Tony winner told The View on Wednesday.
‘But this is an off-Broadway play that I’m doing and I’m very excited about it. I’m also sort of daunted and nervous, because I play nine characters – different genders, different ages, different accents.’
