Amie Rohan has suffered immense grief in her life.
And the former AFL WAG, who was married to Geelong Cats forward Gary Rohan for four years, has shared a meditation on suffering that helped her.
In a post to Instagram, Amie, who lost her daughter in 2018, posted wise words from writer Allyson Dinneen.
‘I’ve wanted to share this piece of writing by @notesfromyourtherapist for a while and after the very busy and fulfilling month we’ve had I thought now would be the perfect time’ she said.
‘It’s the perfect ‘summing-up’ of everything I ever want to say to anyone trying to navigate their way through the tangled mess that is “grief”.

‘Whether it be the grief of losing someone close to you or the grief of a relationship breakdown – if you are currently in the eye of the storm of it all right now, please remember this: I had no idea grief would evoke so much change within me.
‘I grieve the person that I once was, but I am learning to embrace the new version of who I am becoming.
‘The newer version looks at life through a different lens, loves a little deeper, and sees just how fleeting life truly is. It completely changes the trajectory of your life and everything you once knew.’
The note read in part: ‘When people say “when will you get over it” my answer is I hope never. Nothing has helped shaped my life around living and who and what matters to me more than the reality of how short it all is’.

Rohan previously divided public opinion after comparing her heartbreaking split from her childhood sweetheart to the death of their first daughter just five hours after she was born.
She revealed she’d been overcome with grief following their separation.
‘The days after my marriage breakdown were some of the hardest days of my life, harder than when we lost Willow,’ she told the Move Your Mind podcast.
‘But I still got out of bed every day and faced whatever the day brought.’

Rohan’s comments shocked some, who thought there could be ‘nothing worse than losing a child’.
‘Not sure I’d feel the same,’ one person said after hearing of her comparison.
‘Stupid thing to say… nothing worse than losing a child.’
The former couple share two daughters together but lost their baby Willow in 2018 when Rohan gave birth to twins.
Willow had suffered a fatal neural tube defect and couldn’t be saved, while her sister Bella survived after spending three weeks in intensive care.

The former AFL WAG, who already shares two daughters with ex-husband Gary, surprised her Instagram followers earlier this month by debuting her baby bump.
In a clip shared to her Instagram, Amie tried on outfits in front of a clothing store mirror, writing ‘bump friendly too’.
