Amber Rose reveals her grandmother took her own life when her mother was just 10 years old as she details having to ‘raise herself’ amid her parent’s mental health issues

Amber Rose has revealed that her grandmother took her own life when her mother was just 10 years old as she spoke about her difficult childhood this week.

The model, 41, detailed having to ‘raise herself’ amid her mom Dorothy’s mental health problems who was just 10 when her own mother died.

Speaking with Shannon Sharpe for his Club Shay Shay podcast Amber said she felt like she couldn’t go to her mom with problems when she was growing up as she didn’t want to ‘burden’ her further.

She said: ‘My mom’s mom committed suicide when she was 10. My mom suffered severely from anxiety and depression most of my life. 

‘I became her mom at a very young age, and I like had to raise her and say, ‘Everything is going to be okay. It’s okay to cry. For many years I resented my mom for that.

‘How can I help you or what can I do?’ But being 10-years-old and seeing your mom commit suicide, it’s definitely not easy to live with…

‘Even when I had trials and tribulations in my life, I felt like I couldn’t burden my mom with those things. I had to just suck it up, be a G and deal with it. 

‘I already knew that she had a lot on her plate emotionally that I didn’t want to add to that, and so I just would internalize it or deal with it by myself.’

Dorothy shares Amber with her ex husband Michael Levonchuk.

Dorothy and Amber have had various public appearances and social media posts together.

Amber’s parents divorced when she was younger, and her father remarried.

Also on the podcast Amber revealed the real reason her ex Kanye West ‘dresses his girlfriends’ in X-rated clothing as she lifted the lid on their relationship in a new interview. 

The former couple notably dated from 2008 until their messy split took place in 2010. 

The model, who previously accused Kanye, 47, of calling her a ‘prostitute’ and bullying her, opened up about the topic with Shannon.

Amber was asked what she thought about the way Kanye’s wife Bianca Censori has been dressing, after she showed up to the Grammys red carpet in a completely see-through dress.

The model revealed: ‘Kanye is for sure dressing her like that. Yeah, he did the same thing to me and Kim. It’s just who he is.

‘He wants other men to want his woman. That’s what he’s into, he likes that. He likes that men are drooling over his woman. That’s what he’s into.

‘He wants all his friends to want to f*** his girlfriend. He wants everybody that when you walk in a room, that his girlfriend or wife is the most desirable.’

Shannon then asked: ‘And you dressed like that because that’s what he wanted, you wanted to please your man?’

Amber Rose admitted: ‘I was young and I’m gonna tell Kanye now, when I’m that young it’s like okay, you’re buying me this stuff, I do look pretty and cool.

‘But if you look at old pictures of me when I’m dating Kanye but I’m out by myself, I have all his clothes on.

‘I have baggy jeans on, a T-shirt, a big jacket. I raided his closet when he wasn’t home. I would wear all his stuff because I used to hate to dress like a w****.

‘I used to hate it so I used to rebel when he wasn’t home and go in his closet. I’m in sweatpants usually with some Jordans on, maybe a little dad hat or something. I’m very casual.’

Host Shannon went on to reference a time Amber wore a see-through style dress herself, while she was in a relationship with Kanye.

‘Yes, I did. I cried. I remember crying,’ she candidly admitted, ‘I was in like Italy or Paris or something and I remember crying and arguing with him and being like I don’t f****** want to wear this s***, I don’t wanna wear it.’

‘[He said] You don’t understand, it’s fashion, I’m a genius. ‘It’s like, okay, I still don’t wanna wear it but I went in wearing it, they ate me up on the internet.’

The star added that she wouldn’t choose to wear an outfit like that one now.
