With an estimated net worth of $16 million and dozens of hugely-successful Hollywood films under her belt, you might expect US star Amanda Seyfried to reside in a luxurious LA mansion.
But that is far from the reality for the 40-year-old Pennsylvania native who has shunned the showy California lifestyle of most American movie stars.
Instead the star – who made headlines at the Golden Globes on Sunday – has chosen to make the upstate New York hamlet of Stone Ridge her home as she wanted a quiet town to raise her young family in.
She and her husband of ten years actor Thomas Sadoski bought the home there in 2013 so their children – daughter Nina, eight, and son Thomas, five – could go to local schools and grow up outside of the spotlight of their famous parents.
She previously told Forbes: ‘Staying here was the best decision for privacy, peace and nature. It offers a more balanced life than the city does.’
The family are surrounded by animals at the sprawling including their beloved dog Finn, with Amanda recently saying her ‘pets keep her balanced’.

In 2016 she revealed her plans to get a goat and a pig, telling Allure: ‘They’re going to grow up together – so there shouldn’t be trouble.’
As well as Finn they already have four chickens, a rooster and two rescued cats.
She is always gushing about her hometown, telling the publication: ‘There’s a Dunkin’ Donuts, a reflexology place.
‘Even the grocery store is special. It’s the classic small-town grocery. There’s a lot of local things happening. And then I go to the farm stand. Everything you get is absolutely local. But I also have a garden.
‘Having a peaceful place to call home means I can better acclimate to the faster lifestyle of the city, the high-energy of press events and life on-set.’
Amanda is no stranger to huge red carpets, glitzy film premieres and even The Met Gala but says she loves the fact she can retreat into her peaceful world when all those things are over.
She previously told Forbes: ‘The next day I’ll be home and even happier in my boots in the mud feeding the animals.’
She added that having pets at home with her kids has taught them about care and responsibility from a young age.
Amanda said: ‘I think all pets give us purpose. And because they do so much to enrich our lives, we are responsible for theirs – which includes managing their health and wellness.’

It comes after just last month Amanda revealed that recent times have pushed her to her limit while trying to juggle motherhood on top of her acting career and booming business ventures.
While explaining that the workload she’s taken on this year has been unlike anything she’s handled since becoming a parent, the actress admitted she’s been struggling.
‘Honestly, right now, it’s really hard,’ the actress told Us Weekly. ‘This is the most I’ve ever worked with two kids, and I’ve never had two movies come out at the same time. And so, I’m a little bit bananas right now.’
Those two films are The Housemaid, costarring Sydney Sweeney and period drama The Testament of Ann Lee.
‘Oh, my God, they couldn’t be more different,’ she said of the two projects. ‘I’m very equally proud of both. I’ll be honest, The Housemaid is … do not read [the book] until you’ve seen the movie because then it will ruin the twists for you.’
She also owns a toy company called Make It Cute.
The business, which she cofounded with her childhood best friends Anne Hoehn and Maureen North, has taken off with a mix of playhouses and craft kits.
‘We build what we want and we build what we know doesn’t exist,’ she explained of their approach. ‘Since day one, it’s always felt really special and really unique. We started out so big with these [play]houses, and now we’re like, ‘Let’s get small for a second.’
She added: ‘We have these craft kits that are so cute and they’re so easy to make. Kids want to put stickers on them and make it their own, and it’s a really good, tactile, imaginative, fun, create-your-own-world kind of vibe.’
Seyfried said the project grew organically during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, when she, Hoehn and North, all home with young children, found themselves brainstorming creative ideas during evening video calls.

Amanda raised eyebrows with her behaviour at the Golden Globes on Sunday when she lost out on two Best Actress gongs – looking bored as the awards were announced.
The actress then appeared visibly disappointed when she lost the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture to If I Had Legs I’d Kick You star Rose Byrne.
In a viral clip from the evening, the Emmy-winning star, who was nominated for The Testament Of Ann Lee, was caught grimacing briefly before forcing a smile and clapping.
Seyfried’s fans have since claimed she behaved in such a manner because she ‘knew she wasn’t about to win’, adding that the actress was ‘robbed’ of the accolades.
In recent months, the outspoken actress has divided the public after voicing her political views – with many Americans vowing to ‘boycott’ her work.
There have been calls to ‘cancel’ Seyfried, who ironically just starred in The Housemaid with Sydney Sweeney, who has also caused ire with her political beliefs.
Seyfried sparked outrage last year when she described Charlie Kirk as ‘hateful’, days after the MAGA influencer was shot and killed on September 10 at the age of 31, during one of his famous on-campus debates at Utah Valley University.
As well as commenting that he was ‘hateful’ under a social media post about his death, the actress went on to reshare a meme that alluded Kirk’s death had been expected.

Over her career, she has earned a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award nomination, while her films as a leading actress have grossed more than $2.4 billion worldwide (seen with husband Thomas)
The meme read: ‘You can’t invite violence to the dinner table and be shocked when it starts eating.’
Social media erupted with fury at her reaction to the crime, and she addressed the blowback in a subsequent statement.
‘We’re forgetting the nuance of humanity,’ she wrote in a text post on her Instagram.
‘I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable. No one should have to experience this level of violence.’
She continued: ‘This country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings. Can we agree on that at least?’
In her caption, she added: ‘I don’t want to add fuel to a fire. I just want to be able to give clarity to something so irresponsibly (but understandably) taken out of context.
‘Spirited discourse- isn’t that what we should be having?’
Following her comments, former fans took to X/Twitter to claim they would be boycotting her future work.
Seyfried later cemented her liberal leanings as she praised socialism as a ‘gorgeous idea’, arguing it was rooted in collective care and responsibility.
