Amanda Seyfried Clarifies Comments on ‘Hateful’ Charlie Kirk Were ‘Out of Context’

Amanda Seyfried responded defiantly to the backlash she received for her remarks on Charlie Kirk in the wake of his murder.

The MAGA influencer was assassinated September 10 at the age of 31 during one of his famous on-campus debates at Utah Valley University.

This Monday, Seyfried, 39, reshared a meme that read: ‘You can’t invite violence to the dinner table and be shocked when it starts eating.’

She also commented underneath a separate text post to describe Kirk as ‘hateful.’

Social media erupted with fury at her reaction to the crime, and two days later she issued a statement addressing the blowback.

‘We’re forgetting the nuance of humanity,’ she wrote in a text post on her Instagram this Wednesday. ‘I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable. No one should have to experience this level of violence.’

She continued: ‘This country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings. Can we agree on that at least?’

In her caption, she added: ‘I don’t want to add fuel to a fire. I just want to be able to give clarity to something so irresponsibly (but understandably) taken out of context. Spirited discourse- isn’t that what we should be having?’

Seyfried faced a livid response from Kirk’s admirers for her initial comments this Monday, which were posted in reaction to his murder and the subsequent outpouring of grief.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one angrily said: ‘Amanda Seyfried should also be shunned by a polite society. I’m just not as forgiving as #CharlieKirk who Amanda Seyfried calls “hateful.”‘

Another said: ‘Boycott anything she’s in and report her.’

Not everyone was in agreement though as many celebrated Amanda’s remark.

‘That’s our girl,’ one cheered as another said: ‘She just earned a follower!’

‘Here we go with another unfair, misleading take,’ a third added. ‘She never endorsed murder. Her repost was a general comment on how violence breeds violence. Stop twisting words just because someone doesn’t feel the need to empathize with you.’

Additionally, Amanda’s pinned Instagram post, a selfie with her cat which was uploaded in August 2023, has been inundated with comments from both sides of the debate.

One furious social media user commented: ‘Cancelled. Worst comments about Charlie Kirk.’

Agreeing, another said: ‘So evil to speak bad towards a deceased person who was also so peaceful. You will suffer from karma definitely!’

‘You’re so hateful,’ a third continued: ‘I’ll never watch a show or movie with you in it again.’

‘Horrible words for a passing of human being and terrible actress by the way!’ blasted a fourth.

Others, however, heaped praise on Amanda for speaking out.

‘You gained a follower since you speak the truth and are courageous!’ one penned.

Another added: ‘Followed!! Love you more for the bravery of speaking out and being authentic.’

Robinson was arrested late Thursday evening and is currently being held in custody and is likely to have a first court appearance next week

Kirk’s suspected assassin Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested late last Thursday night and was formally charged with capital murder this Tuesday.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox has confirmed that the accused’s romance with his live-in trans lover Lance Twiggs aka Luna is being investigated as a potential motive. Twiggs is cooperating with the authorities.

Robinson purportedly justified his actions to Twiggs by saying ‘some hatred cannot be negotiated with’, in a text exchange that was released this Wednesday.

The investigation, according to FBI director Kash Patel, has featured witness interviews between both the FBI and local and regional law enforcement, where they found Robinson ‘essentially admitted’ to killing Kirk.

DNA from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm that was used to kill Kirk was a match for the suspect, Patel said.

He also tempered concerns about how long details pertaining to the probe were taking, saying that he ‘won’t stylize the evidence’ but that ‘information will come out.’
