Amanda Holden Steps Out in Chic White Ensemble Amid Jamie Theakston’s Cancer Diagnosis

Amanda Holden stepped out in a chic white outfit in London on Tuesday after her brave friend Jamie Theakston revealed his throat cancer diagnosis.

The Heart Radio presenter, 53, had earlier shared that he has stage 1 laryngeal cancer in an Instagram post where he gave the health update.

Jamie shared the news with his fans after previously revealing he booked an appointment with doctors after listeners had noticed there was something not quite right with his voice.

And amid her pal and radio co-star’s announcement, Amanda put on a brave face as she left her Heart Radio show, of which she co-hosted with Jamie’s temporary replacement Jason ‘JK’ King.

The radio presenter, 53, looked stylish as she donned a smart white shirt dress which featured a peplum-style detail.

Amid her pal and radio co-star’s announcement, Amanda put on a brave face as she left her Heart Radio show, of which she co-hosted with Jamie’s temporary replacement Jason ‘JK’ King

Amanda teamed her look with barely-there metallic heels, dark shades and simple jewellery, while her blonde locks were left loose for the outing.

The star was also seen clutching onto a white stuffed animal, while gripping a large black bag in her other hand.

Earlier in the day, Amanda shared a supportive message to her friend shortly after he made his shock announcement.

Alongside an image of the pair, she wrote: ‘Our wonderful @jamie.theakston has been diagnosed with stage 1 laryngeal cancer. 

‘His prognosis is very good and he has an incredible team around him. Jamie. We love and miss you and look forward to seeing you very soon. 

‘With @sophietheakstonjewellery, your gorgeous boys, Us and the entire nation with you.. YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS ❤️.’ 

On September 1, Jamie had said he had got himself checked out after some of listeners had noticed something wasn’t quite right with his voice. 

According to the NHS, symptoms of laryngeal cancer include a change in your voice, such as sounding hoarse, pain when swallowing, a lump or swelling in your neck, a long-lasting cough or breathlessness, a persistent sore throat or earache and in the most severe cases, difficulty breathing.

In the UK, there are more than 2,000 new cases of laryngeal cancer each year. The condition is more common in people over the age of 60, and it’s more common in men than women.

Jamie – who is married to Sophie Siegle – wrote on Instagram: ‘Sooo – a few of you listeners have noticed my  voice hasn’t sounded right these past few weeks – I’ve got you to thank.

‘Got it checked. Doctors found a lesion on my vocal chords which I’ve had removed this weekend – thanks for all the kind messages – should be back on my feet soon – in the meantime…’ and finished the post with a zip-up mouth emoji. 

Amanda went on to credit Davina McCall with leading Jamie to his cancer diagnosis, after she shared her fears that she caused his voice problems.

Jamie will be taking a break from the Heart FM radio show he presents with Amanda, wit the host noting he’ll be back in October

Following news of Jamie’s diagnosis, Davina was a guest on the Heart Breakfast show, where she joked that while filling in for Amanda back in June, she feared she caused her co-star’s throat problems by ‘throttling him with a bear hug.’

Following their embrace, Jamie first began to notice problems with his throat, and he eventually went to see a doctor after it became increasingly worse.

While appearing as a guest on the Heart Breakfast show, Davina was thanked by Amanda for prompting Jamie to go to the doctors.

Amanda said: ‘We kind of want to thank you because when, on the day that you left… now Davina is known for her bear hugs.’

Davina told Amanda that when she hosted Heart Breakfast with Jamie back in June, she ‘throttled him’ with a bear hug, and it was soon after he began to notice his throat problems

‘I’m worried about this,’ interjected Davina.

Amanda then continued: ‘You gave Jamie a massive cuddle which kind of half throttled him. Because of that, when I came back, Jamie started losing his voice and it got worse and worse.’

Davina, clearly concerned, asked: ‘Did I do it?’.

But Amanda reassured her that she wasn’t responsible for Jamie’s health problems, saying: ‘He went to the doctor and the doctor said, ”This isn’t right, we’re going to look at your throat” and because of you, he went to the doctor in the first place.

‘Then, on his throat they found a lesion, which he’s since has removed and everything is fine.’
